I started thinking why I am not too fond of Snowy Biomes, and it hit me... There isn't really all that many materials directly meant for a snowy biome to build with. I know there is spruce and the brich trio of crafted blocks. What I was thinking is more use for ice & snow. Golems can only take you so far, and ice itself always melts even when placed by you.
Now the blocks I was thinking was either/or if not both.
You know how stone bricks & red bricks look right. Well why not have something for the snow biome similar to those.
Snow Bricks &/or Ice Bricks.
Each separately could be made in the same way that Stone bricks & red Brick are made.
That is the option I was thinking if adding both. Now the option to add just 1 block type instead of having 2 blocks added that look similar would be just mixing them together.
Snow Blocks = 2-3 snow blocks & 1-2 ice blocks.... Either half & half or 3 snow & 1 ice.
I believe this would be the best option for it since it combines both.
What they will look like, as I said before, would be similar to stone bricks & red bricks. Probably the smaller of the two, but with a snowy/icy texture. I was thinking in the single block add that the ice would be like the bricks you would lay and the snow as the stuff to fill in the cracks. Well that is a real-world take on why it is there.
For having both blocks:
Snow Brick = A packed in snow similar to stone bricks in the look, being you would probably have to use a lot of snow just to get it compressed enough to be a brick. The larger the more it will stick together.
Ice Brick = Simply sculpted brick laying, that would look more like the red bricks, being small in size. Ice can be chiseled to be that small after all. And like how ice itself has a translucent look to it, the block will have that same look but within the smaller bricks it is composed of.
The recipe as I mentioned would have that 1:1 ratio when crafting, so you will get 4 blocks back like how the stone brick is made. If that is not good then I would suggest maybe half that at least.
So in conclusion we would have 1 or 2 blocks more we could mess around with in the snowy biomes. That and the ice one will not melt. It is a way to have something else in this type of biome that doesn't melt with a torch nearby, as snow itself does get boring after a while mixing it with other things. Sure white wool could be used in these instances, but that texture is more of a carpet or tapestry type thing in my opinion.
So what do you think? Additions, Modifications, your input?

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Yes that is what I was thinking also since seeing the arctic biome thread...:D Also you Ice Queen Castle could be made. Or is it snow queen.. don't remember. The Narnia lady.... of I think the first movie and books... Oh well at least I know there are a few out there that see this as a decent idea...:D

Snow Bricks = 4 snow blocks
Ice Bricks = 4 Ice blocks

snow blocks don't melt next to a light source....O_o
It is ice blocks that do... And yes they will be like the snow blocks where they do not melt near a light source, I thought i mentioned that...O_o lol
