I am getting really bored with the regular cobblestone and stone. Staff, don't lock this thinking it is a duplicate suggestion with the mineral one because that is different. We are complaining about lack of ores. First off, when the lava cools when water is directly under it, it creates stone. This should be switched to granite for all layers. At layer 90-128, when a cobble generator is made, it should generate pumice. All of these rocks should be craftable into cobblestone. At layer 50-90, it should generate dacite. At the layers the ocean floor is near, it should generate basalt. At that layer to 30, it should generate andesite. At layer 30-bedrock, it should generate tuff. That would be it for the igneous rocks. For sedimentary rocks, instead of generating stone in the world at a certain depth, it generates these. These are not generated by cobble generator. At layer 50-35, it should generate limestone. At layers 30-20, it should generate shale. That is it for sedimentary. For metamorphic, layers 20-15, it should generate gneiss. At layer 15-10, it should generate slate. At layer 10-5, it should generate marble. At 5-bedrock, it should generate a type of stone with glowing orange particles to show how hot it is down there. It should generate intrusions all over the place. The igneous rocks would all be renewable, and the sedimentary would be too because you combine types of igneous to make them, and metamorphic would be too because you smelt sedimentary rocks. Just for customization. We need more than stone, cobble, and obsidian. Please support. All would be craftable into cobble though, so keep that in mind.
I like the ideas but what would the new rocks be used for?
Lots of hardcore survivalists start complaining when they add blocks that are just aesthetic.

I put my shirt on one leg at a time, just like everybody else.
Some would be harder than others, and it would be better for protecting things from creepers and greifers. After stone, there is not much that can be mined with a stone pick that is not too expensive.
Ooh, i like this, but then again i'm not a hardcore survivalist and more of a creative crafter, so I'm always in favor of variety! So what would you suggest these different types of rock blocks look like?
Also, if we're crafting these into Cobblestone could Cobble then be turned into gravel or would a different rock type be preferable for that? Sorry, not much of a geologist here, but I am a good sounding board to bounce ideas off of!

Just a different texture for everything.
