I understand entirely that 4j intends on taking MC on their own path of success. That is great and I agree, that offers the capability for players on the PC to have the desire to pick up some sticks and mine in front of a TV.
That being said, as a player that moved from PC MC to Xbla there is a lot missing and I am not referring to game mechanics either. People mention how they want dedicated servers, and Addons, more skins, texture packs, downloadable maps...
My suggestion is to give the community the ability to accomplish these tasks.
Dedicated Servers.
If battlefield 3 and EA can host dedicated servers, I cannot imagine why the minecraft community cannot. On that note I am sure EA is not hosting servers from 1000s of Xboxs in a room.
-- Thus, give the ability to the community. Allow us to go to our computer and download software to host a server. Heck you might even create a source of income for someone that wants to host minecraft servers for people that play Xbox. Im not a computer programmer nor am I a doctor, but I feel that would take stress away from the Xbox giving devs the ability to open the world up instead of having 860by860 blocks or whatever the size is to infinite. When I played on the PC I never played single player, so my computer wasn't having to store all these created chunks, it was being done via the server. Making dedicated servers might clear up lag issues. It would also be more convenient for in game mechanics such as growing wheat farms and so on, not having to be in game to wait for things to grow. maybe also allowing for more then 8 players via a server, and make it more like the pc where there could be 500 per server.
It would be easier to have amazing community servers with massive architectures.
texture packs/skins
These things here... These things. Texture packs, the skins, maps and so on.... This is what makes the minecraft community so amazing. And 4jstudios did one thing that upsets me. Here mojang gives 4J the rights to port minecraft to the Xbox and also take it in their direction, which is fine, but one of unique things about minecraft is "here is a blank template, make your character" and 4J took that away. I firmly believe they should create a editor mode with to user friendly template to paint a skin.
I was reading on the wiki that there is also plans to release texture packs, and I can only assume they will charge for it, and you will be limited on texture packs. Just like character skins, texture packs is what separates this sandbox with others. You can change the senic features of the game to give it a new feel. I enjoyed the oCd texture pack myself. I think there should also be an editor mode for this as well.
Addons/maps/community.
To wrap this all up. Give us, the community the ability to connect without going through a secondary avenue. EG this forum. (not saying my intention is to reduce traffic to this site) give us a public server browser. To either connect to the idea of dedicated servers or player servers. Give us the ability to share maps with others. If someone makes an amazing hunger games map they shouldn't have to resort to a 1 gig flash drive, downloading horizon and -- blah --. Allow us to either upload the map to some storage or directly from a player.
Addons such as timber etc etc should in someway be innovated into the game.
And all of this should be free. It's a community based sandbox game. If we have to resort to logging onto this site to get a game going with others, as I would on the PC, then it's a community game and should be left as such. It would be a good thing if the XblaMC community could have the opportunity to share their projects, maps, game modes and skins with others with ease. Don't force us to be bound to restrictions just so you can make a buck. You have already sold over 6 million copies, I am sure people who payed won't be upset if you allow us to make skins.
I am not expecting to see any of this happen but I can hope.
A. 4J is a team of less than 20 people (last I checked) and not a big company able to host buttloads of servers like EA can.
B. Microsoft restricts many things on Minecraft. How much memory it can take up, censoring to make it kid friendly for all, this is one of the reasons we don't get to customize or paint our own skins.
C. Microsoft and 4J can be held liable for any skins you make of copyrighted characters (such as Mario, or whoever). Companies can't sue Mojang for PC skins because the skins are hosted on the players computer, not any Mojang hardware (or software, I forget the difference, the point is they're on the players computer) so Mojang can't be held liable, and individuals aren't really worthwhile lawsuit opportunities, whereas any skins created on xbox's and/ or used on xbox and saved on xbox can hold 4J and Microsoft liable
Personally I think you put too much stock into community.
It's great that you added no constructive explanation to your theory as to my "stock" in this community. Not everyone is aware about this forum that plays minecraft on Xbox. More so are unaware that you can download maps and install thief on your Xbox to play and share.
I suggested this list because the xblaMC has the capability to become a better community. Just as the PC version is.
Back when the herobrine myth came about, the PC version wasn't as popular as it is now(obviously). It was a guy that was living streaming his game, and made a texture of herobrine on a painting. And freaked people out. THE COMMUNITY because it was a good community, exploded with herobrine sitings and stories. YT explodes with herobrine. - YouTube explodes with minecraft in general. You lack some observation skills. When a game sells over 6 million copies of a game, there is the opportunity for a great community. That being said, you yourself, you are posting on the Xbox section of the minecraft forums, I assume you have a copy of minecraft.. You are apart of the community, yet you think I have to much stock? Maybe you don't have enough.
Be more constuctive when you criticize please, people won't like you otherwise.

Ok so of this would take time then so be it, mojang isn't that big either. I also mentioned to give the ability to the community (you and me and everyone else that plays minecraft) to host servers. I know they cannot host because they are small.
B
How much memory? If the server is dedicated, it wouldn't be on the Xbox, it would be on a PC. While you are in game on your Xbox you would load the map accordingly to the restrictions Microsoft has placed
C
I feel you might be mixed up on this issue, if you had a reference that would be cool. Let's take and compare another popular game. "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" where you, the user, can create your own emblems in a small square. Your own work of art of sorts. I have made a Mario on that game, I have made a pikachu, a kirby. They are hosted on treyarchs servers, it seems theyre doing fine. Just like the Xbox has a system for reporting players for abusing the ToS, treyarch has implemented this into their game as well, and 4J can implement this as well in some level, maybe automated even.
I can build a Mario IN my world on minecraft. Is Microsoft and 4J liable? No.

Also on this subject of "copyrighted" material. Most players on the pc minecraft won't make their own skins, they will download them off planet minecraft which is a community based website, where all the content is made by the users and uploaded on the site, but they are not being sued for copyright because they have the whole cast of marvel characters as skins. Or a gameplay map of zelda link to the past, which is featured on this site if I am not mistaken.
It was a suggestion that 4J could make a too, to upload your skins to share. However if it was an issue, even though I don't think it is (No resource to confirm) then you still should be able to make your skin, and save it to your Xbox.
Also your skin on minecraft for the pc is not saved on your PC. It is saved on your profile via the minecraft website. So you are mistaken on that note. I can change my skin on my pc, go to my buddies house and play it on his pc and my skin would still be the same until I change it on the site.
Lol I feel like I am arguing. That first post got a ruse out of me.
Also another benefit of having dedicated servers that the community runs and not the company or developers.
Also just to clarify. When I say the community runs it, I am saying little jimmy from Ohio who is eight years old can go on his computer and download this server client start it up and hop on his Xbox and connect. Thats it. There is no one else involved in the process except players connecting. It would be easy to add mods to the server, create scripts for the server to do neat things. People could upload the Zelda Block to the past map even and play it on the Xbox with others.
I am sure that it would have problems in cert testing but there would have to be a tons of bugs removed and a lot of security enhancements so that no one is compromised. If halo 2 could cross platform with the PC then this is entirely possible. If terraria online, the recent 2D platformer can cross platform with the PS3 and Xbox, Again this suggestion is possible.
---
And having a skin request section is crazy. 4J doesn't have the manpower to go through a 1000 posts to make your skin dreams come true. It would make everyone happy if you could template your own skin
