Lanterns would serve as a portable light source you could use without setting down. This would be useful in the fact you wouldn't need to make so many torches. To make one, simple put wooden planks in the middle left, right, bottom, diagonal down left and right for the shape. Next, put ten pieces of coal in the middle for the light source. finally, put sticks in the middle top and diagonal top right for the handle. This device should be destroyed after so many seconds. That is all. EPIC!!!!!
When you craft torches, you get four. So when you have a stack of coal, you can get four stacks of torches back. And considering some people have stacks of them in chests...
Just a idea for this: The torch is like a battery the light slowly dims down until theres nothing then you have a empty lantern then you have to refill it again maybe? Or theres slots on the opposition side of the armour things and that's where you put the Lantern and the Torches that powers the lantern and you see both of the hands one holding the lantern and one holding the main object. Anyways I agree and this would be a good Xbox exclusive item. Oh and sorry if this doesn't make sense.
What is with the EPIC last part...>< I don't get it....
What I do get is the lantern idea. Although why should it be made out of wood? Most lanterns that I know of are actually made out of iron...O_o
Why not, just like someone else mentioned on this post, have that extra slot in inventory near the armor for light source and fuel. fuel being for the light source. Then you could just place a torch there, and if used in this fashion then it will be used up, you could have the stack of torches in the fuel part which will use them up in that manner.
As for the lantern idea I think making it out of iron for just the one would be enough. No coal needed in the initial recipe... It could be placed in the light source thing and when you put a thing to use as fuel it will light up. It will last as long as the type of fuel would last normally... Probably like how a furnace works, but at a better rate... 2x probably... at least.
This idea is mainly for exploring when you don't want to lay down torches, well the lantern part. I would rather lay down torches rather than use them in this manner.. Just figure I would add my own take on this...:D
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Anyhow, I have 2 chests of coal--I don't need to save any more....
Stay fluffy~
