The nit would be wasted dev time they could use on something else. It would also just be more wasted memory on something that is exactly the same as something else.

gold is not as useless for some peope as you might think, if your like me and you use minecarts to go everywhere you need a lot of powered rails.
As for golden golems I think they should do something different than iron golems. Maybe they have a bow built into one of their arms and a golden sword in the other? Just a thought.
