We need obsidian doors. Iron is too easy to break into. Obsidian doors would need to be mined with a diamond pick axe, and opened with a key. Keys would be crafted from gold ingots, and when crafting an obsidian door, it would pop up a menu that says type in a four number ID for the door, and there up to 9999 possibilities. The dor would have the number you picked on it. The key would have the same number picked, and the door would have a password, and the key would have to have the same password written on it, to make sure only wanted people can get into it. You might be saying, but we can turn off their abilities to use doors! That makes them unable to use their own door, which sucks.
It seems cool, the key thing part. But the obsidian doors doesn't really need to be made. I understand that iron is easy to break into, but what would be the point of obsidian? A stronger door? It just doesn't really seem to serve any purpose to me.
Anything that can be blown up, opened with a charge, or mined with a wood pickaxe is too easy to break into. Obsidian doors, assuming you have an obsidian house, would be strong as your house.

And I would just use my Efficiency IV Diamond Pick and get into your house just as fast as if it were and Iron Door.
Unless the door is made of some unbreakable material, people will get into your house. If I wanted into your house, the door would be the last place I'd go. Why not just mine/dig/TNT through your wall?
A stronger door isn't going to help if the rest of your house can easily be done away with.
If you want people to stop breaking into your house, then you want things like Lockette (PC Server Plug In) which allow you to lock doors, chests, and furnaces. As well as World Guard (PC Server Plug In) which makes it so that only you and people you allow can build in your area.
Or the time tested method of playing with people who aren't going to break into your house and steal your stuff.

It would be cool to have a door that can survive creepers and tnt but locks are useless what are you gonna do if you fall in lava and lose your one and only unique key
An unbreakable block would be ideal but how do you mine it while others can't and if you accidentally put it in the wrong spot mining it back up is tedious there is just no way to to make a 100% thief proof house on minecraft unless you have the pc version with plug ins
If a person wants in they will get in and if you have too many traps they may just tnt your house instead
So just play with people you know and trust or hide your goodies somewhere away from your house
yes iron doors are easy to break, and only those that have diamond picks can open an obsidian door so thats a +, and Tnt/Creepers couldent explode it right?, +The key things pretty cool but maybe a diffrent key recipe?, and wolfeuk, people can still find & take your items from ender chest, ive found one problem.. what if you break the block below the door?, unless you make that obsidian also, and iron doors.. whats really the point in them besides for mobs?, they can break easily if you have a simple stone pick, people can easiley break into others "Safe rooms" they arent really safe when you have a door guarding it that can break in 5-Seconds, and obsidian cannot be moved with a piston so there is no way to have a house that is completely "Player" proof, unless you mess with the settings which wouldent let you open your own door like RADIOACTIV56 says above, so in all.. SUPPORT!

the only way to keep all your stuff 100% secure is with the ender chest
Or to do what I'm doing and hide it behind a maze, a lava parkour maze, a lilypad parkour maze, (that drops you from roughly 50 blocks up to bedrock if you fail, and behind an obsidian reinforced, iron door'd, panic bunker.
@idea: Anything can be broken with Obsidian, if anyone's patient enough they can spend like 4 minutes punching Obsidian to break it,
Or they could just break the block beneath it, so even if you could ONLY break an Obsidian door with a diamond they could still mine the block beneath the door.

Well maybe a lockable chest with the key idea. It would not only stop people form getting in, but they would need to know your keys password to unloack the chest.

How about making the door only breakable by the one who crafted it?, and what if the block beneath the door is obsidian? most people that have obsidian can get more

You would then just need to mine the obsidian under the door, then continue to mine under their house and get in through the floor. Or you could go in through the wall, or the roof, or wherever.
You cannot make an impenetrable house unless it is built from bedrock and you find a way in and out without a door or any opening. Hence why I said earlier in the post that you would need something like World Guard from the PC version. they wouldn't need a key just craft that chest
and any one can make a enderchest so any one could get your stuff
i feel like you dont even know what a ender chest does. endershest only carry your stuff and when someone opens it there will be nothing in it unless it is theirs

As others have mentioned, mine the block under the door... whether obsidian or not, the door collapses when the block below it is mined.
Replace the obsidian.
Replace the door with your new combination.
Original owner would get so miffed when his combination no longer works.
I don't see the point of sating this. Why are you so hostile all of a sudden? I think he is saying why not just apply the key thing to iron doors.
