Before you say something please read. I know jungles are not out yet, but I am accounting for them for when they are out. Now you probably are thinking no way that would be too many trees. Well what I was thinking was doing this similar to the way they do oak at the moment on snow plains and extreme hills(mountains). The trees would be sparsely be put in here or there, and not everywhere.
This would give a facelift to the terrain I would think. Add more variety in the scenery than just another of the same tree. Well for the biomes that seem to be that tree only. I know this would be a pretty complex thing to add in the coding, but not something that should slow down the game, as it is something in the initial generation, and not something continuous. I don't know if it will be easy or hard to put in, as they do have the oaks sparsely put into the snow plains and mountains.
The idea behind this is aesthetics in the generation as well something different from the pc edtion. I really not too fond of how many "oak" trees they put into the jungle. Saplings for jungle were hard enough without them, and now with them makes it even harder. That is not sparsely spread out. Just an example. Also the other reason is to have available some other tree type in another biome, so you don't have to "have" that specific biome to get them. All the while at least keeping the notion spread out in mind.
When jungle trees come into the game the only ones that even should be put sparsely in other biomes is the 1x1 tree, as the 2x2 one belongs in the jungle. It is a rain forest per say, so humid... and just makes sense. Besides you can grow those anywhere...lol
For now until those come out I guess mainly pay attention to the other 3 trees. The primary reason I did not put oak on the list is that it is already everywhere. Although if you think otherwise please say something. That happens to be the most common tree in the game.
Thoughts, ideas, or revisions? Welcome to build the idea more, even if it seems like a simple one, it is actually a pretty complex one.
I like this idea. I'm tired of a forest being all oak with a few birch here and there. Although, in order for this to work in certain biomes (extreme hills, plains), more tree would have to be added. I've seen a few of those biomes where there's a single tree...
In forests, though, they could probably get away with just replacing some of the oaks with the other tree types. That way, it looks like a REAL forest. Not just one tree planted infinite times...
Actually it would work fine with the mountain biome, as just adding these to them will be adding more to see around and in them. If they are like the snow plains how they are placed then that might be a bit better, as the mountain ones are difficult to tell sometimes if there is any trees that generate, especially when a forest is nearby. In that latter case it would be the forest moving up the hill and not something that actually generated in the biome itself.
Thanks glad someone like the idea. Now to fine tune it per say. As there are still some ? in there that I am unsure if it is even feasible to put in those specific biomes, unless they added a different style of spruce. Example would be swamps. Not sure spruce would fit in or not, all I know is those type of trees at least by logic would love water and go to great lengths to get to that water.
The logic I used is obviously from real world mechanics on how trees grow, and that did affect my decision on which biomes would make sense. I know this is minecraft and things are different, but in a way some things just need more variety to even look more like it belongs...:D

I'm all for trees being spread out more across biomes, although I can't really adjust to the possibility of seeing a jungle tree in a plains biome... something about the climate clashes :3
That makes sense.. Plains are a type of biome that is what it is. I dropped that from the plains list, as I do agree that big tree in the middle of nowhere seems odd and out of place. Anymore? As it is best to have a better list for those tree types known...:D

Birch tree forests there's white bark forests isn't there they could have autumn looking leaves and grass texture of fallen leaves maybe?
I think giant oak and spruce trees would make sense aswell.

One of the reasons I was thinking having other tree types like that in other biomes instead of just only 1 biome. I could say the same about spruce, as I wouldn't mind seeing that in other places as well, even if sparsely scattered among a few of the biomes.:D

hmm... well wasn't actually mentioning having more biomes, but that one seems like an interesting idea. Since it is related to what I am thinking, having more places for the single biome trees to grow. Birch & spruce being the prime examples at least for the current version, and jungle for when those come into the game. Wonder what giant spruce would look like...hmm.. Those get op to 12 blocks high sometimes as is, that might be counting the leaves it spawns too...
technically though you could just have a few of the big spruce to the forest biome to get that effect to some degree. However what you are describing would be primarily birch with big spruce and large oaks. Definitely would be a different look from forest right now. i always manage to find plenty of birch in regular forests, but I think one step at a time. I would rather the trees to be in more of the biomes then having another biome added, even if that is a great idea for a new biome.:D
Reason being is that I would still have to insure specific biomes were on the map for each of those trees. Well that would be the primary one, as there are other reasons, just right now my head hurts too much to think up what those are at the moment. All I know is the more places there are those trees, the more lively or more interesting and less bland it will look. Plains is a good example, since that would be a perfect place for birch and a few pines and oak... Of course not all grouped together, as it is plains. More like what I said before like how the mountains have oak sparsely scattered in the mountains. Here or there...:D
I'll have to note that new biome idea, as that might be good enough to be one...

I agree with this idea. Minecraft can be soooo monotonous with some features. Dont get me wrong, sometimes the same thing over and over can be fun, but the scenery is not something that should be monotonous.

i kinda wish they would make new stone because when in caves all you see is grey blocks (stone) gravel (also grey block) dirt and ores. its need more liveliness to it

I actually don't mind the stone texture, as I get a lot of dirt. Gravel at the moment, even though it is roughly grey, is still easy to recognize. I prefer this texture for gravel. Still though the monotony of the underground is not as colorful as the above ground. That much I do agree. Well right now would be nice to at least have the monotony of the above at least varied a bit. At least in the trees.. which is the other reason I made the post.:D

of course when I usually say spruce up, I usually mean it literally using spruce wood lol....:D Well among the actual meaning that is... Hence my other Sprucing Up Villages thread.

My idea was to spread the trees around in more biomes than they are. That is those trees that seem to be only in 1 biome.
Spruce: Mountains, forest, swamp(?), jungle(?), snow plains
Birch: Plains(both snowy & non), swamp, jungle(?), snowy forest
Jungle tree:swamp, beaches(?)
NOTE: ? = questionable. Unsure.^^^
