Ok, so I got MCX360 2 days ago. I played it happily, with my friends who only had Xbox edition of MC. I was ok with few things behind from the PC version. Such as no falling into the void. But one that I hated mostly was no gamemode changing.
Now me, I'm a mapmaker(I don't have any public maps, I just make my own private projects and experiments.) So I was building a huge PvP arena, no swords however, because I think close combat should be improved in all versions. So I had ender pearl givers, bow and arrow givers, splash potion givers, and all that fun stuff. So after all that hard work, I asked my friend, "Hey how do I change my gamemode?" He tells me "You can't" This made me rage! I built all that in creative, and now it cant be used for the purpose of PvP!
So all in all, I know that Mojang is improving Xbox and phone edition to be like the PC, but I urge them to have their next update with gamemode changing(and spawn eggs but thats not what the thread is for)as their next update!
Meh, an improved options menu would be better. Gamemode changing and commands would be there hopefully. Like TMI but different.
Night: Change time to Night.
Day: Change time to day.
Storm: Change weather to storm and rain.
Sunny: Change weather to sun.
Gamemode 1: Change gamemode to Creative.
Gamemode 0: Change gamemode to Survival.

I see, I tried it, but too long, in the PC version, its a simple maybe 5-10 seconds of typing(except for me as I'm a fast typer) and the half second of loading.
You shouldn't have to restart to change your game mode. Its very trivial for 4j to add this. I know quit/save works but if you have a bunch of friends with you, you need to re invite, its kind of a pain to do so. They should add this soon.
I agree, this should be added in, also the pc version is the only one that Mojang deals with 4j Studios are the ones hard at work on the 360 version and the pocket/ pi versions are handled by some other company, the only reason the xbox says mojang when you load it up is beacuse mojang owns the rights to minecraft itself, 4j is behind all the programming because the pc version is written in java, the xbox 360 can only run C+ so it is up to 4j to go in and translate the java code into the C+ code witch is like translating a speech in japanese to english, both are complex languages, and sometimes the english phraze doesnt really carry the same meaning once translated, so you need to find a way to rewrite the speech so that it still makes sense and carries the correct tone. so please remember this when requesting features, if you ask the wrong company they might think you are talking about the wrong version of the game

I think there are issues with this that a lot of people haven't taken into consideration. Although it may be a simple procedure on the PC, an Xbox 360 is nowhere near as powerful as a PC that people would use to play modern versions of Minecraft. That couple seconds of load time for the change on the PC could actually be a big deal on a console that is basically a dinosaur by PC standards. For all we know the load time could be as long, if not longer, than time needed to just restart the map.
Achievements are likely another reason the two game modes are separated on the Xbox; when you start a map in Creative it disables Achievements and leader boards, but if you could switch game modes on-the-fly it might be tricky to have them become disabled while the map is still running for maps originally started in Survival Mode. I think it all comes back to the same issue that causes most of the issues that so many people label as trivial and that is processing power.
The Xbox 360 is not a PC and C+ is not Java; keep in mind that the processors in most new smartphones are better than the heat-breathing dinosaurs running in these consoles; not to mention the fairly laughable 512MB of RAM. Just take a look at any other game that is cross-platform and you can see many obvious differences; PC versions always have better graphics, physics, and frame rates and in many cases larger maps and support for more players in multiplayer modes.
The maps are smaller, the ceiling is shorter, fewer mobs can spawn, these issues and many others are not because 4J dropped the ball, it is because the Xbox 360 is using technology from around 2005; that's about four years before Minecraft even got started with alpha testing, let-alone a version including all the features we currently have on the console version.
I feel your pain and I understand the frustration, but just because it seems like a simple problem does not always mean that is really the case. When "simple" issues go unresolved it is most likely because they are not that simple at all.

Assuming you do not want to open your map for friends to just join on their own...
Start an Xbox Live Party. Go to the party menu and press "invite party to game" then you're done, there is no reason you would ever have to re-invite people one-by-one so it isn't that big of an issue.
Max players in Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition = 8, max players in an Xbox live party = 8, problem solved. I have jumped between maps with friends many times and never saw it as troublesome to re-invite.

It is a big deal when its such a trival change to add, and stop saying that the xbox isn't cable of doing this because its 'old', thats not the case. Its a very small detail to have.

I love how everyone seems to know soooo much about how "simple" and "trivial" programming these types of changes should be, you must be an expert C+ programmer and experienced game developer to be so confident. In fact, why don't you just download the XNA developer kit and make the changes yourself then post video evidence of your success online just to prove how "trivial" it really is?
As if 4J Studios really built it completely different just because they wanted to annoy you and your friends or people like you. They changed things for a reason, they have said so on many occasions about many different features. Look at how much has been copied as close to the original as possible and it is so obvious they didn't do it just to be jerks. For heaven's sake the 360 can't even load chunks quick enough to keep up with flying speed!
You can't squeeze blood out of a stone my friend. Keep dreaming, keep flaming, I'm putting on my Nomex. Peace!
Look you jerk, I know that its 'based' on the PC version, which is java. They are both class driven, and have similarities in structure. I've examined the PC version and if its anything similar allowing a game change mode should be very very trivial.
This has nothing to do with how 4J built it, but more so of a feature they havn't thought of implementing yet.
Now I didn't 'insult' your knowledge and I don't expect to be insulted back, your being extremely ignorant in things that 'not even you know', so stop bashing for such a request, this is after all a place to discuss features we'd like to have and if all you have to do is sit there and be ignorant to others then f*u.
And last i read no one here was 'flaming' until you started, but more asking for a feature that would be extremely nice to have.
Furthermore I have expedience with programing, including java, c++, c#, java-script, SQL VB, and others.

lol I never said it was a bad idea, heck I would love to have the option too! I do however understand that maybe it isn't really all that simple/trivial or maybe they didn't really have a choice in the matter. Let's be realistic for a second. How likely is it that they "haven't thought of it" when that is how the original game is designed? They are working off of the PC version as a template so how could they possibly have missed that big of a difference between the two versions. Seriously, that's pretty insulting to the fine people of 4J Studios to assume that they didn't notice or "haven't thought of" something so obvious about the original programming.
I said people should stop being so forceful and angry about it and try to be civil. I replied to the OP saying that while it may be a fair request it isn't rage-worthy, and then in another post I replied to you with a suggestion for how you could make it less troublesome to get your friends back into maps. It was a simple suggestion for a workaround to help for now based on the issues you mentioned in that specific post, after which you began to rage about "trivial changes" and attack my other posts.

If enough people want it, and it is actually possible, then it is a pretty safe bet that they would try to make it happen. Tell them (in a civil way) that you want it and try to gather support. Considering the low number of replies I don't think it is really a major issue for most players. You'll either get it or you won't, but don't make assumptions about what is trivial or simple because that is pretty insulting to the developers and I seriously doubt that will make them respond any faster. You attract more flies with honey. As I said before, they have been copying a lot of stuff as exactly as possible, so I think it is pretty safe to assume that there was some reasoning behind the change in design.
Try this instead, "Dear 4J Studios (optional, but courteous), I would really appreciate the option/ability to change game modes or difficulty without exiting and restarting the map each time. Even if switching between Creative Mode and Survival Mode isn't possible, at the very least I would like to be able to change game difficulty from Peaceful to allow mobs to spawn without the need to restart my maps every time."
Look back at your posts because not once have you been all that clear on the distinction between switching between Creative Mode and Survival Mode, and changing game Difficulty, which I assume is what you are really after since you mentioned it only requiring the ability to enable non-passive mob spawning.
its simply changing that mobs can spawn, its not a hard change to add
Let's not resort to name-calling and improperly abbreviated vulgarities. Poor grammar and misspelled words are the sure signs of a post written with expedience from a place of anger and frustration rather than rationale and logic. Take a minute to gather your thoughts, check your spelling, and be sure that your ideas are coming across clearly, and exactly as you intended; especially if you plan to toot your own horn.
I'm pretty certain that fast game mode swapping isn't a feature because of the leaderboards, as the one other person said. Is saving and reloading your game really that much of a hassle, though?
FYI early PC versions didn't have that ability, you also had to exit and save, and reload to change your mode of play, i don't recall off the top of my head exactly what version it was implemented however the xbox version must be very close to when that change made it into play.get rid of leaderboards all together imho, they are a joke.
so i'v had minecraft xbox 360 for 1 and a half years and when the creative was added every one was happy but we couldnt milk or even eat. so then tu8 came but it was a disipointment it was just bug fix. so my friends say its coming on the 20 of march i think its coming on 18 of march
Being able to switch game modes on the fly is something that should have been in MCX360 Edition from day one. It would be an easy thing to implement in an update. Saving the game, backing out to the main menu, switching modes, and reloading the game, at least to me, takes too long.
Let's say for example your in Creative mode, and you want to switch over to Survival mode. It would be an easy process of pausing the game, selecting Help and Options, selecting Game Mode (I know that option doesn't exsist, but just hear me out), and selecting Survival, hit the B button a couple of times, and your back in the game. A notification, same as the one you get when you try to sleep during the day, appears on screen saying "Game mode: Survival selected. Achievments and Leaderboards enabled". Now, if you want to switch back to Creative, just do the same thing you did to switch to Survival, and a notification appears saying "Game mode: Creative selected, Achievments and Leaderboards disabled."
Seems simple enough to me. And for all we know, 4J is probably looking into this. And really, why do we have Leaderboards to begin with. Doesn't make sense to me. Oh well.
