I'm kind of new to Minecraft. I'll say that its certainly addictive though :). Regardless, I'm trying to create something that's shaped like a wheel and powered by water. Almost like a gear. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to build this. I know how to build a waterfall. I thought there might be a way to add paddles or buckets that use the force of the waterfall to turn.
Is this even possible on the 360 edition? If so, does anyone have ideas on how to do this?
i would like to help with your question but all i can say is you need ALLOT of redstone. and alot of sand. and you would have to be ok with lagging everyone anytime you go in that world

If I'm reading your response correctly, there is not a way to do this using the power of water. It sounds like I have to rely on redstone. That stinks. I really wanted to build something using hydroelectric

Yea sorry mate but blocks in Minecraft XBLA don't move unless they're pushed by redstone pistons.

I've seen horizontal wheels with pistons pushing a single block in a 'circle' before... But I don't think that could ever be possible.
Not in the way that was originally suggested over a year ago.... redstone is a kludge at best to accomplish anything even remotely like what the OP wanted.
A new feature would have to be built into the game to adequately accomplish a goal like this, using a programming strategy (similar to Archimedes Ship MOD) to isolate a group of block into a separate X-Y-Z 3D space that can have that region move about independently to the set world axis and orientation.
If this were done, then all you would have to do is re-orient that new 3D matrix in relation to the existing game world space to create movement such as a rotating wheel.... or a ship that sails across the open sea...
But using pistons to turn a wheel would not be pretty to look at visually (IMO)... more functional than attractive.

Yeah exactly.
But like I said, I seen one thing with pistons pushing a single block in a circleish.. But that doesn't count.
