The sound that you make when shifting through the inventory, or anything really - "boop boop boop boop boop" is not affected by the "sound effect" slider- so it can't be turned down. Please fix that as the sound can be very irritating to roommates who don't minecraft and hate hearing "boop boop boop boop boop boop " all the time.
I wouldn't know since I've never used the menu that way...but nonetheless that probably should be looked at.
Until then, try turning your television volume down or using the analog stick to move through the menu.
i laugh so hard when people by me look in frustration when they hear boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop boop. but yeah it can get annoying

I know the feeling, I think the problem is that some of the audio balances in the game are just plain odd. When I play Halo, Battlefield 3, or watch Netflix I set my sound system between -40db and -50db, but when I play Minecraft I have to drop it down to between -66db and -70db because if I don't the menu and a few other sound effects are just crazy loud. I've been pushing for more similar volume options in other threads, like maybe submenus so you can adjust certain sounds together like they are now, or individually.
For example:
Music 0-100%
Sound Effects 0-100% (Click A or something to open the expanded options)
Menu Sounds 0-100%
Mob Sounds 0-100%
Other Sounds 0-100%
Basically I think they should preserve the existing sound levels and main volume sliders, but provide a second layer of options for sound effect volumes so people can adjust all Sound Effects at once like it is now, or if they want open the submenu and choose specific sound groups to adjust, like Menu Sounds, Mob Sounds, etc.
but the easy way of doin all of this is......
T.V volume ---------> 0

Once again, that doesn't really solve the problem mentioned by the OP and it has nothing to do with the issue so it doesn't help to keep making essentially the same comment stating the obvious (this is at least twice now) when someone says something about sound levels. All this does is make it seem like you aren't taking people's comments seriously, and I'm pretty sure we just went over essentially the same kind of issue in another thread.
Muting the TV gets rid of all sound, not really what we are going for here. If people wanted to play in complete silence, we wouldn't really be having this discussion. Maybe you're just trying to be funny, but it's not much different from saying "if you don't like the new gravel texture just stay offline and don't update" not exactly helpful or practical. Let's try to focus on constructive comments/feedback since it is safe to assume that everyone already knows how to control the volume on their TV.

no you misunderstand. what i am trying to suggest is that, click the mute button then when the game loads un-click the mute button and all will be fine. but this idea is a last resort idea if they dont fix it. that is all im suggesting

I agree.. those noises get to me after a while..
I've said this before and I'll say it again...
Only sounds I'm interested in hearing is things like me walking around and mining. that's it.
Now that the xbox one has more music that plays while you play though, it's a bit nice to play with music again. Still prefer my own music though.
