Think we could get a working drawbridge? Would need woodplanks and string to make. could be 3 planks in the middle of the crafting table surrounded by 6 string. or make a smaller one and use 2 planks with 4 string and even smaller 1 plank with 2 string... could animate just like a trap door. Think this would be awesome for castles. Would of course be activated with a lever or button on the back of either brick the rope from the bridge would be attatched to. Of course redstone and repeaters could be used to change location of the lever/button. Placement could be done just like a bed. Could also consider using wooden slabs for this. Let me know what ya think.
how long would it take to Open/Close it?, it would look pretty weird if it opened as quick as a trapdoor..
and maybe not being able to craft an entire bridge and instead it would form (Like a snow/iron golem) if you place string and wooden planks in a certain way over holes or something?

Well it would be 1 wide according to the schematic. I designed that to keep it basic like the game is and thats why it would work. And the length would be determined by how many ingredients you use like in my pictures above. 1 plank + 2 string makes a single block bridge...2 plank + 4 string would be 2 long etc..
That would technically mean there would be 3 new blocks for one feature. Considering Java is a very finite code, it could cause problems for the long run in the PC version. Don't know how finite C++ is.
I like the idea Creeper gave about it forming into a bridge as the materials are place. That opens the possibility for longer and wider bridges. As of now, you can jump a 4 block space while sprinting (if you get lucky...) and mobs can't. Meaning a drawbridge is kind of pointless if it's only 3 blocks long. The only plus it would give is making it impossible to jump the gap while it's up, but that can be accomplished by a simple piston door. Or an iron door, for that matter.
Don't mean to bash on your idea. Just trying to give constructive criticism.

Criticism is fine with me. While you may be able to jump gaps and all that good stuff who wants a castle door with no drawbridge? As far as the 3 new blocks for one feature they utilize that with beds being 2 blocks for 1 feature... so why not just add another spot? I'm not into coding or anything so I can't say it would be easy or hard. Just pointing out they have done it with the bed so its possible.
Why would it be so hard to make it legit? I could probably make it, and I'm a redstone noob. No joke. Now, making it compact would be a challenge for me, but I could build it with a simple T Flip-Flop function.
Is there something in the video that makes it non-legit? I can't really watch videos on my connection...

I managed to watch the video, and I see what you mean. That is a LOT of redstone. And a lot of space. Even my flush piston door took a lot of space to build, but it's a billion times more compact than this... THING. I mean. . . wow.

I have 12 stacks of Restone in Survival. I also have numerous pistons. The materials are not hard to get at all.
That bridge I posted would be extremely easy to build. First you would just need to clear out the area for the wiring, then fill it back in once you were done. In all it would probably take you about 30 minutes to make, if that.
