I have never had this problem. Not even once. Then again, I guess I don't death grip my controller like other seem to. Unfortunately, there isn't anywhere else to move that specific control so it's going to stay on the Left Thumbstick unless 4J removes some other controls.
Also, you might want to direct this at 4J, not Mojang, seeing as how 4J makes the Xbox 360 edition.
This has happened to me actually. After I was done playing like five hours of Black Ops 2, I got so used to the sprint being the left stick that I kept pressing it in Minecraft. By the way, Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition is made by 4J Studios, not Mojang. They aren't going to change it either. It corresponds with the double tapping of the W key in the PC version. I believe you can change the controls as well, they have three different control configurations, but I'm not sure if the sprint is another button or not. But dude, if it's bothering you that much, then consider just playing on the PC?

Actually, they said at Minecon that they would think about it, but not for a while. They're more worried with the updates and fixes now than anything.

The good people, they always die. And the bad people do too...But the weaker people, the people like me, WE have inherited the Earth. -Morgan Jones
This thread is pretty funny. First of all, the OP said mojang, when he should have said 4J. Second of all, I you arent used to the controls, play more MC, and less FPS. Its literally that simple.
This is one of the many reasons why I have autosave set to 15 minutes. I really hate it. I wish there was a custom button configuration, as I would ditch this useless feature (to me) and put a sprint button there.

I need to give out more reputation. I'm not used to the system, but I see so many helpful posts. D: Sorry if I forget you!
So a few people have problems with the control system. Now the OP wants to change it, in mainstream, for the millions who have already learned it one way?
No.
Custom button mapping would be a great way to make everyone happy so they wont have to force changes on us. If people want it to stay the same, don't change your controls.
I have never had this happen to me, I like changing the POV to see in a large area around me, or if you are trying to record a machinima, but that's just my opinion.
Only control problem I have issues with is the sprint. Sometimes it doesn't register when I need to get away in a hurry. I've destroyed so much landscape from not being able to evade creepers because my sprint doesn't want to work. I think they should switch it to simultaneous LB, and RB since both pressed at the same time doesn't do much except wig out between hot boxes.
I don't recall this ever happening to me at all since playing this on release (on the XBox) but I can see it. Only time I have this issue is actually during COD except it's usually the melee button I accidentally hit that screws me over in a gun fight D:
This has never...ever happened to me. The people who get killed by this are people who get too scared easily or have a muscle twitch disease. I agree that the button layout should be changed so the left stick enables sprint but it's not that of a huge problem to be ranting about. I would much rather see a rant about nether fortresses or breeding glitches.
By the way, Mojang does not make the 360 edition. I thought everyone should know that by now.
Problem not so much, more of an annoyance than anything... POV & sprint. Anyone whom says just get use to it apparently, no offense, just doesn't understand. Things happen button push does not mean I have a death grip or anything, most times when I press it is by accident out of a reaction or surprise. Then I have to vigorously change the scene back to normal or the way it was.
I personally don't really use the POV feature, except to see what my skin looks like in the surrounding area. To look around, that is what the right stick is for, looking around. Sometimes when I want to sprint, it just does not always work, and sometimes that accidental press happens to change my view, not often granted, as per the reason I just say is an annoyance more than a problem. I usually get sprint to work every so often, but in times of reaction, it fails to works... that or almost gets me killed on a few occasions. While building near a ravine you don't want to sprint off the edge or you want to keep in crouch mode, well guess what the sprint takes you out of crouch mode too easily...>< Even if it is an accident. The way I build and dig the sprint thingy just activates temporarily every so often.
I don't wanna change the way I dig or build as it seems to for me the way I enjoy doing so if not most efficient for myself to do. Sure I have learned to accept the changes, does not mean I like them....;)

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I've yet to have this problem, but I think moving the view toggle to the back button would help. You could press to change view and hold to see who's in the server.
That could also fix the sprint issue. I don't really have a problem with the sprint other than it feeling awkward.
The double tap just doesn't correspond well on the controller.
I think it would work.

I see your thread and I raise you the exact same thread.

I get startled, usually by a creeper exploding or a spider jumping in front of me. The former is usually the worst, because that means I'm near death.
And then I hit the left joystick button and I'm now looking at myself from the front.
Which means now my controls are backwards, on top of my disorientation.
This bullspit just cost me 29 experience points when a zombie clobbered me while I was trying to get my bearings back.
I've heard other people complain about this as well. Might I suggest that the left joystick be for MOVEMENT ONLY, like 99% of other games?!?!
This was an extremely idiotic design choice and it needs to be REMOVED. I'm so sick of it.

Either I'm doing something right, or you're doing it wrong.
Stay fluffy~
