Wheels. Attach to blocks allowing them to be mobile...custom made vehicles!
More lighting options (lanterns, directed light, etc)
Smoke/Steam so fireplace chimneys would look cool.
Locked chests that have a combination and can't be destroyed except by owner.
More diverse trees (weeping willows?)
Rabbits
Just off the cuff...what about specially crafted blocks the perform logic gates (e.g. a block that takes input on opposite sides and outputs an AND gate)
How about using our xbox avatars as our skins.
textures, textures, textures

Into your life it will creep. It starts when you're always afraid. You step outside, the creeper comes and blows you away.
I would love to see is texture packs as dlc alongside the skin packs. The new Crysis one that is coming out for pc would be epic it if could come to xbox. I think 4J should make or have some artist make a few texture packs to sell on the xbox marketplace. I personally would be happy to pay like 400 ms points for a sweet new texture pack.
Other than texture packs I can't really think of any feature to add that caters to the console gamer.

I see your thread and I raise you the exact same thread.
Alright, my thread is dead, so I'll post ropes here.
Ropes!
Pictured: Awww yeah!
Ropes, you say? Fantastic!
First off, here's a quick description of ropes: they are strands of fiber wound together to be awesome. They are used in so much in real life, and have been around since antiquity. So why not put them in Minecraft? I have a few reasons why, but first off, let me describe the crafting recipe.
Now, since string isn't in the emoticons thing, those sticks are substituting, mmkay? But it's not like it matters about the recipe shape. Whatever: you take three string and Steve winds them together to make a rope.
Now a rope isn't much useful on its own, kind of like a brick. The rope needs to be combined with other ropes to form a rope coil, the useful part.
The sticks here are substituting for ropes. This forms a coil of rope, which is the epitome of awesome. These can be used for all sorts of things, including:
Climbing! Place a rope coil on a ceiling and it falls to the ground, a maximum of twenty blocks deep (of course, it stops if it hits ground above that, it'll stop.) This rope is now eligible to be climbed. This means that you can go up to it, press the left trigger, and move up and down it like the buff man you are. To exit the rope, just left trigger it again, like hopping in and out of a minecart. Anyone who's ever played Total Miner: Forge knows of this mechanic.
And you better hope you're buff enough to escape R. Lee Ermey.
Tying things together! Place a rope on the side of a block, and then the other end on something like a boat. This will tie the boat to the dock until it is destroyed (shears are the obvious choice) or the host block is. You can also tie minecarts together to form a train by placing one end on each minecart, or tie animals to stakes with the same method.
Grand theft nautical is more difficult without proper rope-cutting gear.
Leashes! Don't want le chien straying too far from you? Get a leash, and then it will never go off chasing adorable fauna or tumbling into an exposed lava pit. Place one end around the dog, and then keep holding the rope. This differs from tying in that to tie, you must place the rope on a block first, and then on an animal. This is the other way around, with the animal leashed first. An image of the rope attached to the dog appears (like the fishing line), and it won't stray more than three blocks away.
"I would leave to chase that Creeper and get vaporized, but I can't. Thanks, master."
Lassoing! This combines with leashing. If you throw a rope end (use it without having a block targeted), it will go out like a fishing line. If it hits an animal, you have a chance to lasso it back to you and leash it. Ideal for impatient people who find that luring cows to their deaths with wheat is just too darn slow.
John Wayne could lasso. Why can't you?
Grappling hook (maybe)! This takes lassoing and adds a new dimension. Place a separately crafted grappling hook on a rope coil and throw it at things. If it catches, it'll stick to the top of a block and become climbable. Now you can truly breach your opponents' fortresses in a suave style, as opposed to just knocking down their door.
Pictured: Not suave.
Other uses! This is really just to brainstorm possible uses. Maybe ropes could be used in the construction of maces? I dunno. They're so useful, you can do anything.
Even astronauts need rope, 4J!
So there you have it. My little post on rope. Any feedback would be just greeeaaaat.
"And if you could come in on Saturday to implement this, that would be greeeaaat."
A 'coded' chest : The person that creates it makes a code up for it. Anyone that opens it has to input the right code. . like on a keypad or 'spinning number lock'.
Tigers. . like wolves but more aggressive.
Crocodiles. . can kill them to make skin for armor etc.
Keys made of iron for doors.
'Gold' coins for currency in mulitplayer.
A boat with a sail.
A 'gun' that fires any kind of block. . . kinda like the gun out of fallout3 that can fire anything.
A proper cooker/BBQ that can be used to cook only food (fish, meat etc)
I don't know if this is exclusive or not, but maybe Glass panes that are a sunroof... Maybe even called that. That is you know how the glass panes are vertical, well why not have some that are placed horizontal. Instead of on the side of a building it would be on top or even below to see down... more or less mainly for a skylight. Glass blocks just don't cut it for this type. So Sunroof it is.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Ore should respawn after months of minecraft days, so we can make armor and tools without feeling like we are losing ore forever. Two handed weapons, dual weilding one handed weapons, shields for better blocking, magic books that you enchant to be able to shoot spells like fireball and then the book breaks after a few uses. Currently blocking while attacking is better than normal attacking, this should be fixed because normal attacking is useless now. More boss enemies, difficult large enemies are fun. A skin editor so we can make our own skin instead of using ones already made. I love the grappling hook idea, I can think of a hundred times I needed one to scale a tall structure. More passive and aggressive enemies like more animal variety and new enemies, make zombies all look different!
I think they should make tornados or ancient cities like rome, mabey fallen cities under water, or volcanoes that erupt and make new land, or a tv that makes it were you can see weather and make it where there different storms like tornados or huge thunderstorm . Or if you want tech they should make like a steam powered boat that goes faster than a regular boat or were you make a wagon and them make a car from it and drills or a powered saws or crossbows Or new mobs like trolls or bears and horses and they flying horses as a rare spawn. Mabey like deer or elk or black bears bunnies spawn in forest biomes. Or glaciers spawn or ice caves like that one guy said. These are my ideas some are like mod but 4j could make them different
a dirt block that doesnt change to grass so i can make a dirt trail
we have gates for wooden fences but not metal ones ?
metal fences that passive mobs cant jump over !!
being able to make coloured glass
Kinda sounds like a slab type of dirt, which actually wouldn't be too bad as most trails are sunken below the grass level anyway..O_o
I would like to be able to make cobwebs in survival, as that would be interesting enough, not to mention somewhat useful.

Don't know if it has been suggested and I am on a cell phone so I don't feel like looking
Redstone wire: 1 Redstone + 1 Iron ingot makes Redstone wire which behaves like iron bars so things can be powered directly instead of having to run Redstone or Redstone torches all over the place to wire something together

I think you may need to elaborate on this a bit more. I'm sorry if I sound disrespectful, or condecending, but it sounds like you are describing a redstone circuit? IE; you place the redstone in a line to power something, or you place your redstone wire in a line to power something? Plus, "behaves like iron bars"??? I'm lost.
I think what that person means is vertical wiring without having to use torches or similar to do it. O_o
Correct me if I am wrong.
Ah right. .. guess that makes sense. Must've been having a blonde moment. (No offense to anyone). Suppose that would be useful, kinda like a firepole, with a current going through it?

As a workaround try this glitch, Plan your trail and dig it 2 blocks deep (how ever wide you need it). fill the bottom row with fence posts and then cover the fence posts with dirt blocks. Then till the dirt (as if you were making farmland.). Until they fix the glitch, you can walk on the tilled dirt without causing it to revert to regular dirt.
I like the back pack idea. I want a freakin jack hammer, i get so bored mining sometimes.
Get some TNT and blow that s*** up then. That's how I mine. Build a mob spawner so you have pretty much unlimited gunpowder, collect some sand, and BOOM! Then you have a cleared out room.
