Hello! I am BT Waldo from Its Build time. I have started a series a little while ago covering the tips and tricks for building an amazing modern city. These tips and tricks are what I have found to help me out the most over the past few years I've been making modern cities, and I just wanted to share them with you guys. I've been doing the modern style for years over a number of different block building games, so these tips and advice are coming from a knowledgeable source. As I said before these are just some of the things i've found that works best for me, and everything I explain in the videos is opinion based. If you feel like you have a better way, or a different way of doing or explaining anything I've talked about in the videos, please feel free to share. The Feedback is greatly appreciated. Videos will continue to be added to this series and this thread.

Incase anyone wants to see what my city looks like from the tips that I go over in the videos. The world is built on 360, but converted to PC to take these awesome photos
Flat world cities are boring and easy... build like that in a natural world and incorporate the hills and shorelines. No real city is perfectly flat.
While you are right, the only area that has been shown is the main part of downtown. Since xbox maps are so small, and our buildings and roads are so big and realistic, there is only so much we can do on an xbox map. We are expanding the map onto PC and incorporating various land features, and elevations. As you can see in some of the pictures, we've already included a beach, and one side of a river.

Also, natural minecraft landscape cities are often messy and unorganized due to the randomness of the generated world. It's also a huge waste of vertical space.

I agree on that one. My roads are made of obsidian and i had to use brick stairs cuz minecraft doesn't offer black stairs.
And my roads can't run in nice neat grids cuz they bend up and down around hills and valleys.
