Me and my girlfriend have been working quietly away on a world since the creative mode was unlocked, and we're now ready to show off! We're awefully proud, though some of the designs were taken from tutorials(like our big barn) or copied right off google(like our gas station), though we built more and more as we got more comfortable with the designing process....
We've made a norse looking town, all legit, before the creative mode was made, but eventually we wanted to make a modern looking city- the spawn is the parking lot to a trainstation, and two stores which would give you everything you need to survive. Otherwise, it'd be out in the countryside, with barns and feilds of crops and such- and slowly you get deeper and deeper in a larger city....another month or so and we'll likely start on skyscrapers...
We're always open to suggestions, so long as we don't need to nuke half our city to execute them.....and we're quickly running out of home decor ideas....you can only decorate a house so many times before it seems....passe...

MEDIEVAL CITY IN SURVIVAL(in progress)
MY GIRLFRIENDS ART WORLD(entirely made by her- Pacman game was inspired by the one on an episode of "Let's Play")
I have a good idea for you. How about putting the road into action and building a railway on it. If you don't want it on lanes or don't want to make it 2 lanes, you could put it in the center/ on the median, Make it look a little like San Francisco or New Orleans by adding a streetcar. Be creative with a transportation system you can actually ride in. Just in idea.
Another idea: add some sports stadiums. Baseball park, basketball arena, football stadium.
Also, add some art. Example: Giant creeper statue, Large mural on a building, etc.

Acting like a creeper in your signature is too mainstream.

We actually have a semi-functioning railway....you can choose your destination in the main train station at the spawn, but all the other train stations only return to the spawn one....that been said, we're still early on the build, and only have 1 destination- but we've programed a potiental 3 other destinations
Still, making a train crossing with an actual train on it sounds cool....:D
As for the stadium idea...maybe when we start building a more "downtown" area(we've slowly went from the spawn, making countryside, homes, then mid-town- we're working our way towards building skyscrapers....) but it seems so cliche, and takes up so much space....
And we actually already have a giant creeper statue, though its just tucked away somewhere...its on that link
Nice! What makes this unique from what we are used to seeing is that you made it a "living" world, you got the truck unloading stuff into the building and it just immerses you into it a lot more. Good job.
Good job guys! I really like the idea of making a city. I wish i could get my girl into Minecraft so she can play with me and help me build stuff but she says it looks too boring =(

I feel your pain, Jiperly please teach us how you get these strange things called women to partake in the playing of Minecraft. Thank you for the tutorial by the way.
Only way i found is if they are naturally a gamer, then just hijack all their games until they play at least an hour of MC... even then it's a 50/50 shot if they'll like it and play it after they get their games back (if they just don't freak out and give you The Look *shudders* until you return their games).
This is a joke, don't try unless you are extremely brave and/or stupid... lol
