No They have been working on a full recode of redstone logic code for awhile now i'd say pretty close to 5 or 6 months. We should see this in the next update or two, its supposed to really stabilize redstone both for stand alone and servers.

That is the greatest Minecraft news I have ever heard, no clue how I haven't stumbled upon it. Hopefully it doesn't bring along new bugs. Coding something as complex as redstone must be much more challenging using a language such as C++.
Well that will suck..... 1.2.3 with teasers from further updates no pretty scary or redstone update...... They're what I've been waiting for, damn!
People are reading more into this then what is really known. All 4J said is that they would like to add their own 'touches' to the game once 1.2.3 arrives, this could be anything from a new world, to their own mod, to new mobs, to simply adding a few new blocks, to quests, ect. They never once said they would not continue pushing the version to continue on the path of the PC.
Take what other say with a grain of salt as until 4J specifically states their plans, everyone is just grasping at straws and making a guess at what they will do. And for the record not once did 4J ever state that they would not continue pushing down the PC path, in fact most things point to the contrary as most things people have asked for 'including hoppers' 4j has been quoted as saying 'in a future update'.

But 4J can't do whatever they want to, at least not without losing a lot of money in the process. Microsoft isn't going to allow them free patches forever. They can easily urge them toward the route of releasing any new content as DLC. 4J is already extremely lucky to have the amount of free updates that they have already. I doubt Microsoft is ever going to be any more lenient. Anything could happen, but DLC is more likely than continued free updates, following the PC version.

If they wen't down the DLC route do you think it would be Battlefield 3 bad? Would users without the DLC be barred from the worlds of those that do, maybe just in a creative world? Could you not access the content on their world if you were aloud to play? Oh my, so many questions ( I understand its all speculation) I just hope they figure something out for the future.

Well a lot of games (Borderlands 2, for example) allow everyone to download a compatibility patch for free. I could see them doing something like this with Minecraft. Obviously you wouldn't be able to actually use the add-ons, but you could see them. This is a very smart tactic for devs, because seeing the new material in-game may help to sway someone's decision in actually purchasing the DLC. If they added something like a new dimension it would be different, and I'm sure players would need the DLC to join said world. But in the case of something like extra items or new blocks, a player without the content could probably view the tiles in a world, just wouldn't be able to obtain/place them, depending on the type of item.

4J can continue to release as many 'free' updates to the game as they wish and Microsoft can't say , it was part of the agreement process with mojang.

No it wasn't. They received free updates, nobody knows how many. A game being allowed any free patches is extremely rare, so I highly doubt 4J has an unlimited amount. Microsoft will bully them into producing more DLC at some point. Given the buzz around what will be happening around our equivalent to PC's official 1.2.3 update, and the fact that the PC version was at this point when MCXBLA was released, I'm guessing 4J was given an arbitrary amount of free patches. i.e. how ever many they need to reach the equivalent of 1.2.3.
It's a nice thought, but we won't be getting free updates forever. That just doesn't happen in the world of console gaming. A corporation is not ran by a person, it disregards passion and aspirations, the only thing it lives for is profit. How Mojang managed to talk Microsoft into this contract is unknown. It's already too good to be true at this point, it can't get much better.

Yes it was, I read part of the 'extraction' that was leaked, and m$ may NOT make any monetary gain off any part of the PC upgrade history or something like that. I'll try digging up the extraction i read, I think actually it was a direct post from mojang himself.
I can see M$ attempting to make additional profit off the game, they already make a huge take on skins, and can only dip further into peoples pockets by providing something everyone will want like block packs or additional worlds, perhaps even some type of loved mod released as dlc.
But m$ can NOT make any cash off version upgrades, if you don't believe me tweet mojang himself and ask.oh and FYI, 4J went on record to state and i quote 'We will continue to provide upgrades to the game free of charge'. Now we know that this doesn't include dlc, but upgrades will always be free.

None of that means they have an unlimited number of free patches. They may use a patch to bring us a free update every once in awhile, but it won't be as frequent. I'm pretty sure the contract you read was bunk, as Microsoft is already making money from MCPC material, and has been for awhile. I can't find it, but I wouldn't believe it, or you, (no offense, this goes for anybody) over Notch himself.
Polytron was also less than pleased about Microsoft's offer of free updates, "something every other developer on the platform is told is simply not an option," the Fez studio tweeted. Notch replied, "we had to fight for that, and we got a limited number of them."
Mah makes no difference to me if M$ starts charing for content that 'should' be free i'll trash MC360 and go back to my PC MC. I sometimes just prefer to sit in comfort and like the controler in hand, as well as the ease to chat, but i'm one tight son of a gun when it comes to companies ripping me off, I no longer buy any COD or bungie products, and avoid most westwood now as well. You can milk me a bit but eventually i do kick back.
