I've not been playing since Minecraft has had an update. Been at it only about 6 months. Are these changes and new items applied across the board, both in already saved seeds, as well as new seeds entered or randomly generated by "Create new world?" I seem to remember reading somewhere here that they are only applied in new created worlds.
Anything that is generated when you first create a seed will not be added to existing worlds, ores, structures, what have you. New crafting and game mechanics will be available on previously generated maps. For example: a new block like granite will not be found on an already existing map, water temples won't be on those seeds either. However, on an existing seed you will be able to use new recipes such as crafting slime blocks, newly spawned villagers should have professions, enchanting will follow the new mechanics, etc.

Gotcha. That's make sense. Thank you for the reply.
