II saw that some members of Mojang are at one of 4j's studios, which seems to me that they're discussing the future of the console versions of the game, meaning that there's no news on updates yet because they've been waiting to meet with 4j and discuss future updates.
....
The plan was for 4j to follow PC Minecraft up to 1.2.3, after which point we would be going a different way while adding the more popular PC features.
The plan about going their own way after 1.2.3 was before the plan included updating alongside the XBox One, PS3, PS4 & Vita. I'm thinking this plan has to have changed somewhat... if it hasn't even been totally thrown out the window.
Not technically "undoable", but highly impractical for anyone who does not have a keyboard to plug in or a chatpad. They can't assume everyone has one, and it wouldn't be fair to add a feature that can only be used effectively by buying something (be it a keyboard or a chatpad).
That makes no sense. People don't cry about signs. That's like saying "why bother including local multiplayer when not everyone has an HDTV capable of doing split screen?" You don't dumb it down to satisfy everyone, you add features to bring in a higher number of users. When I was told it was undoable, it was something about the censorship algorithm working overtime to scan books being too memory intensive (which they can get around by simply adding an "online experience may differ" warning. Their censorship never made sense to me, because I had a sign with the word TOMB censored, yet if I so desired, I could build a visual representation of any graphic word I wanted to use without any issue. Control freaks.)

There are many factors. If it was just one thing, they might find a work-around. However, it's the fact that someone without a keyboard would have to use the controller to tediously type out every single word,
plus the fact that it would censor any slightly offensive word in any known language (like your case with "TOMB") leaving the entire book completely censored for seemingly no reason,
plus the fact that it would have to connect every single time the world was loaded or a book was written to make sure there are no offending phrases, causing an insane amount of lag and possibly freezes (similar to a previous bug where signs would cause the game to freeze).
When I wrote that I forgot about the censor and lag part of it, I was just paraphrasing what 4j said at Minecon 2012.

I agree. There are many factors involved. People keep just latching onto one of them and forgetting about the rest and the whole picture. Another issue not mentioned yet is that, in splitscreen mode, typing shuts down play for up to 3 other people on that Xbox, since the type screen covers the whole screen. Yeah, they could reduce the type screen so that it only covers 1 quadrant, but then most people would not be able to see what they are typing on all but the largest of TVs. Unlike the PC, the Xbox edition is being programmed to take into consideration that it is far more likely that small groups of people are playing it as a multiplayer game on a splitscreen while sitting on their sofa... unlike the PC where the assumption is that everyone is sitting right in front of their own individual screen.
A similar situation would occur whenever anyone playing in splitscreen mode wanted to read a book... it really just would not be much fun playing in splitscreen mode if there were a bunch of books in the game.

Yeah, but as Kennbeck said you dont "dumb-down" the game for the sake of a few people. If someone on the other half of the screen is reading signs or books when you just want to play the game you always have the option of turning toward them and smacking them.
The real issue is Microsoft's censorship protocol. It really needs to be removed. I can drop f-bomb after f-bomb through the chat but cant have a sign that says "is exclusive" because OMG! I might be secretly trying to type "sex". And what would the parents of the 20-something year olds I game with think then??
It's effing ridiculous. And worse, it's a memory hog.

Well, you won't sell it to parents if you don't. I'm sure that every parent's idea of a great family game time is to have their children smacking each other about because one wants to write in a book (sarcasm in case you can't tell). You won't sell it to splitscreen players if you don't consider their specific needs (i.e. to be able to see what's on the TV screen from across the living room). All you'll do is turn into such a perfect carbon copy of the PC that you'll only sell it to the same bunch of teens who have already bought it on the PC... and they won't buy it either because they already have it on the PC.

One of the selling features for tthis game on the xbox is the split screen mode. This makes the game attractive to many families who are looking for suitable games to play together. But with the xbox, most games that use text, use the built in text editor which disrupts the game for all. It is probably not worth the programming to make an in-game text editor so that everyone could use it. I'd rather miss out on an ink and book feature if it makes the xbox suitable for split screen playing. Afterall, there are penty of other features that could still be added to the game.

I agree completely and I think that (and the other things already mentioned) is exactly what 4J are thinking about when they are saying that they don't intend to add book and quill into the Xbox 360 edition. If the Xbox One and the PS4 approach adding text differently than th 360 does, then book and quill may appear in those editions but still not appear in the Xbox 360 edition.
I personally hope TU14 is another bug-fix. Minecarts aren't miniable by hand. Which is game-breaking to my cops and robbers map. That and a lot of sound fixes should be made.
Yes, another bug fix update is needed. I would be grateful if they just fixed all the major bugs...

i would really like anvils even if you can't use them in survival. there are so many minigames i have spent twenty minutes trying to get the right enchant for. it means i can get my infinity bows for games without making them god like with flame power and punch.
We really need to get the witch hut in the next update because I believe that was the last generated structure added to Minecraft before 1.7 comes out. That way for 1.5 when nether quartz is released, we can simply restart the nether and obtain quartz at our own leisure. It's getting very tiresome to continuously load up new worlds every time a title update comes out. Please just give us witch huts with the temples in the next update so we can load up the world and never have to make a new world until 1.7 comes out.
What we may get from 4J:
1. Anvils
2. Horses
3. The Wither (since the heads are in the game already)
4. New types of food such as; carrots, potatoes, and pumpkin pie
5. Infected villagers
6. Carrot on a stick
I just want all the world generation parts (all the biomes and core natural blocks that will be used in the game) done first... things that spawn, can be built, and functionality can always be added later.

They will be adding things (ex. Horses, droppers, and orher things) but 4J and popular minecraft xbox youtubers say that they will continue with pc updates like in the next update being equal to 1.3.2
