On one of my worlds, I finally found a woodland mansion - the map led me to almost 10,000, -23,000 - and whilst I was really pleased to find it, that world is now so laggy that it is almost unplayable anymore, which is a great shame as I have a lot of good stuff in it. Does anyone know of any way to reverse this..? Preferably some way of doing it that I can understand as I'm not a computer genius by any means! I wish I hadn't gone searching for the place now, and also that they could be much closer than that. On another world I found one 8,000 blocks away, which is still far, but not ridiculously far.
Not going to go onto the better together beta cos I won't be able to play with others on the Realm I'm joined up with. I can reduce my render distance a bit, but it's only on 10 already. Yeah, I play more Win 10 than Java nowadays so I can play with others who don't have / can't run Java, but I played Java since 2011, Win 10 from 2015. Thanks for taking the time to reply
Exploring a lot should not cause lag because the game only loads chunks within view distance of the player (as well as spawn chunks). However, there is a bug on the PC version that causes lag when a large area is explored since it saves the data for every single structure that has ever been generated and keeps it permanently loaded in memory and it all needs to be iterated through every time a new chunk is generated, mobs spawn, etc, which may also affect PE/Win10:
If this bug affects PE as well I don't know if it can easily be fixed by simply deleting a file (Mineshaft.dat), nor do I know what save format PE uses, but this is the only thing I can think of that would cause a large world to lag (besides running out of disk space but then you'd also get chunk errors everywhere as the game can no longer save properly, and if it is the system drive, warnings from Windows about low disk space beforehand).

I'm also not sure about the non-Java versions, but I once had entity movement one and off type lag due to that very same cause (mobs would appear to be on stop and go but would actually be moving), but the odd part was, it only happened when I was hosting my world as a server so a second player could play. When playing that same world on LAN it didn't lag like that. That was versions ago (like I want to say 1.6 to 1.7 time frame) so I've no idea about now.
Anyway, when I had that issue, simply deleting the file does indeed help, albeit temporarily until the size of the file grew again.
Thanks for the replies. On another very disappointing note, I explored the mansion with a couple of friends last night, and there were absolutely zero vindicators or enchanters present, only regular enemy mobs Loot from the 3 chests we found was very bad too, the best thing we found was some gold ingots and a Bane II / Lure II book. Bit of a cursed mansion I reckon, lol

The latest Win 10 version, not the Beta. 1.1.5 I think it is.

MC-33134 Mineshaft.dat uses too much CPU

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
