Immediately after the 1.1.4 update was downloaded, my game closed itself. Now, it won't move past the white Mojang screen. It just closes. No error message, nothing. I've restarted my computer several times. Game simply won't open. I've got an HP Pavilion and have been playing Windows 10 edition for a year and a half with no issues.
Is anyone else having issues with update 1.1.4? I cannot find even a mention of anything like this anywhere. I emailed Mojang and they said "we do not have a technical support team" and referred me to these forums. Should I be contacting Xbox, Microsoft, HP, etc.?
I would suggest backing up your worlds, world templates, resource packs, etc., and deleting Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition. Then, simply reinstall it. If this doesn't work, you're probably going crazy because it should.
Ha. Yes it should, shouldn't it. Quite disheartened at the moment as it dawns on me neither Mojang nor other users have any idea on this. Your suggestion may be the best option. I'm actually planning to wait until the next update to see if that fixes it.
Does anyone know if there is an official way to report stuff like this for consideration? Any other HP pavilion notebook users?
There's several threads on "crashing at the Mojang screen", so do a Search.
Millions of people run the game with no problem. I can safety say it's not the game, but your computer.
You can try backing up everything and reinstalling, but I'd make sure all your graphics drivers are up-to-date first, as while at the Mojang screen it does a graphics test. If that fails, the game will just quit.
Thanks Geneo. I've found a couple forums specifically about that happening on first use. This feels a little different in that up through 1.1.3 I was fine. I literally was playing, took the dog for a walk, came back and it had updated/stopped working. Ill keep looking for graphic driver info as this all new info. Thanks for the lead.
I checked graphic drivers, downloading updates directly from Intel. Windows update, HP support assistant, and Intel Driver Update Utility all say I have the most current version.
Game still won't move past the White Mojang Screen
I'm on an HP Pavilion with an Intel HD Graphics 5500. I meet all listed minimum system requirements, but none I can find on graphic drivers. Given how the. 1.1.4 update obviously triggered something after a year an a half of working fine, is it possible the game itself has outpaced the computer or driver requirements?
The "auto-updates" setting is different for Windows 10 itself and for the Windows Store. I think you're talking about the "auto-game updates" from the Windows Store. Go to the Store, click on your picture in the upper right, go to Settings, and the first option is "App updates". You can turn the off auto-updates from the Store there.
Posted on support forum, but no response:

Update 2: Did a system restore to version 1.1.3 and game works again. Currently looking to turn off auto updates if possible.
Interesting!
Glad you got the game running again.

Thanks Geno. Will give that a try! When further versions come out, ill download and test if it opens.
