My son wants to play, I have Windows 10. His buddy has some sort of tablet.
1) can he play against his buddy with the tablet?
2) I think I just buy a Majong account but am unsure. Do I just have to buy the account login or do I need to buy the game too and does it need a subscription?
3) Do I need to do anything to ensure he is able to play against his buddy?
The operating system doesn't matter. The Edition of Minecraft does.
1- Yes he can... IF he's running "Minecraft: Windows 10 Beta Edition" (Win10) and his buddy is running PE or Win10. (Win10-to-Win10 is best).
2- Both will need Mojang accounts, both will need to buy their own game, and both will need to have a Live account (one can have the free Silver, and one the paid Gold) OR instead of Live, one will have to have a paid Realms account. In other words, they can play together through Live, or they can play together through Realms. Also, in the Win10 versions, they will need to have the "Broadcast to Xbox Live" option turned on.
How many can play together on Xbox Live? I know Realms only supports 10 players as of now.
I don't know for certain, but I imagine it's probably 8 players, which is the same as the console editions on Xbox Live.
Realms is your best bet though as it is a dedicated 24/7 server that doesn't require the owner to be playing in order for other people to join the game. It also does not require you hosting the game on your computer and bogging down your internet bandwidth in order to have X number of people connecting to your PC.
So confusing, minecraft overload.

I've checked everywhere, including the Live website. Can't find out (but I think it's either 5 or 10.)
Anyone know for sure?
