I don't want to be that dude that always has to complain, but really, Win 10 edition is nothing more than Pocket Edition on PC, now my questions is? what is the point of Win 10 edition?
Of course it's not much now, but I believe it's the Future Of Minecraft and where MC is headed. It's not a "replacement" for the java version, but you gotta admit that the java version has been taken about as far as it can go- programming language wise.
Yes, it's just like PE (in fact, exactly alike), but I think you're going to be surprised what Win10/PE is going to become a year from now. Do not assume that it's gonna be PE-like forever.
What I'm excited about is that, with C++, Win10/PE can be taken places java only thought about.

I don't understand it either. It's just the exact same ol' mobile game but for your desktop. Maybe it's a good cross platform game if you have an Xbox or a windows phone/tablet - neither of which I have or want.
However it *is* free, and I can't complain about free.

We're on the same page, I feel the same way with other OS's so Windows it is for me, but I digress <grin>

No Java, for one.
Win10E may be the same (relatively) as PE now, and that is limited, but they are adding more features as the platform code changes over.
Here's the Bad News: MS/Mojang probably will never allow mods for Win10, Windows 10 itself won't allow them (it blocks modified files), and we're "stuck" with only updates and DLC (come on, MS has to recoup that $2.5B somehow).
Here's the Good News: The updates and DLC are tested multiple times and they just... work. And they work for everyone regardless of platform. No guessing about conflicts or is it safe. When it's all said and done, aren't "updates" and "DLC" the same as a mod? Don't they change the program and add things to it just as a mod does? A few weeks ago, I'll bet some of you were saying "Gee, I wish someone would make a mod so I could have maps, caldrons, hoppers, and witches, etc." (Oh, never mind... they did!) (Funny, people always expect "someone else" to make goodies for them... for free, of course.)
It's a valid question- once Win10/PE "catches up" to the java version, what happens to it? It's "old" now, and long overdue replacement. Plus poor java has been taken far beyond what it was designed for. (Show of hands: would MC still be around if it wasn't for Optifine?)
Looking into the future, I envision a MC2, with better everything, written in C++, just for PCs. (I've long been a proponent of MC2). I also see Win10 becoming the new "standard" version of MC for all platforms, with common features between it and all the consoles.

"free" however being free for people already having a mojang account, the people that did buy Minecraft off Minecraft.net have to pay $10 in the windows store

That sounds extremely rather depressing. "no mods", "standard version MCWIN10", and also, I didn't really catch up on your statement of Minecraft not being around if not for Optifine? I love vanilla Minecraft and I dont even install mods such as Optifine, Why would minecraft not exists without it? many will call me crazy but i never downloaded OR installed OR played any minecraft mod in my entire life

From my point of view:
-Having mobile users connected with PC users somehow
-Show the performance of Minecraft written in C++ compared to Java
Those are the only 2 worthy points I can see to MCW10E.
I'm starting to wonder if there's any point in the Java version of Minecraft!I I don't recall anyone from here going over to the Java forums asking this. I suppose that if we did we could ask why a 6+ year old game feels like you are walking through thick pea green soup wearing Wellies on a brand spanking new MS tablet. Maybe ask why we can't play multiplayer with people on phones or ipads, ask why worlds take so long to load, ask why our pc's get viruses by downloading fake mods...blahdy blah...
1. Most games aren't cross-platform, why would you want to play with someone on PE, minecraft isn't an exception, most games aren't cross-platofrm
2. the world takes around 5-10 seconds to load, if you have a decent PC. Try playing GTA and then come back to me and see if minecraft loading takes a long time. Minecraft loades EXTREMELY fast compared to other games, even servers/multiplayer.
3. It's your fault for downloading fake mods, you shouldn't download anything from the internet if you are unsure if it's fake or not

"All mobile device under one network and platform" is what I would point to. Once realms for MCPE is available, that would put an icing on the cake

This thread is going to be a interesting read a year from now.
Agreed.

See my post here as to why would anyone want to play the Windows 10 version.
Exactly.
