I really need help. I bought my son a new computer and he really wants to use his 360 to play minecraft. When I plug in the controller the driver seems there and the controller is recognized and I can bring up and play xbox live without a problem. But minecraft pc does not even seem to recognize that the controller is there at all.....please help!
I'm confused. When you say "Minecraft pc" do you mean the java version (the full featured, old version) or the new Win10 version that you're playing on your computer?
* Windows 10 has xbox controller drivers built in. I've played the Win10 version with both 360 and One controllers with no problem. Plug and play.
* I don't think the java version has controller support in the game. You probably need a separate controller support program for it (I like Pinnacle Game Profiler, but it's not the most popular).
I am far from an expert in this. It is the version one downloads from Mojang. I believe Java. What is the windows 10 version? Can you do mods like crazy craft with the windows 10 version?
Assuming I am on the Java version, i have seen programs referred to like motioninjoy, is it that sort of thing that I need? Sorry for my lack of knowledge and thank you
The (new) Windows 10 Beta version (aka, Win10) does not allow mods. Both are written by Mojang. Basically Win10 is like PE, (and can play with PE players) but it is for computers, phones, and tablets running Windows 10. It's the first multi-platform, multi-version we've ever had. It's much faster and smoother (due to using C++) than the java version.... which is why java players wish it was the java's replacement. (It's not).
ok great, so with Java, what can I do to make the xbox 360 controllers work? I have windows 10 as my platform and the drivers are there, is there a program I can use to make it work? The reason being I am setting it up to have two players on two seperate accounts and two screens but 1 CPU thanks again for your help!!!
You can't run 2 versions of the program on 1 CPU, much less 2 different programs, at the same time on 1 CPU. There's a huge difference between each person having their own program (or the same program) running on each screen, and "multiplayer" where 2 people are playing the same game. Either way, players won't get their own screen unless 2 computers are involved.
The closest you can get to what you want is using 2 computers and both play the same MC version using multiplayer over your LAN or Wi-Fi. (Or, if you have a console, play split-screen.) (No, neither the Win10 nor the java version do split-screen).

If you want to use mods, use the java version.

See my first post about what "programs" to use. Also see:
