Are the shaders and textures compatible with the windows 10 edition beta? I really want to play on the C++ version of minecraft as its performance is vastly superior to the really bad Notch version. However I cannot play this game without shaders and texture packs, it is just far too ugly for me without it.
No amount of "shaders" or "texture packs" can save how MC looks. At it's core, it is a world made up of blocks after all, so it will always be "ugly" compared to some other MC-like games.
However, there's already a couple of texture packs available, and I'm positive they'll be more coming after it comes out of beta (they're a little busy with "other" things right now). Who knows- "shaders" might be added to the base game (or as a "add-on). There's no telling where Win10 will go. Patience.
Combined with an ultrarealism texture pack a great shader like Sildurs Vibrant can look like the Promised Land, Elysium, or whatever other terms that can describe something of that decibel.
On my laptop, with its GTX 950M 2GB, 8GB of DDR3/5GB allocated, and I7-5500U, I can run the Sildurs Vibrant Extreme+Volumetric Lighting 1.161 at default shader settings, 16 render distance, a 128x resource pack, and 1080P and I can get 25-30 fps rock solid.Higher if I tone it down to 720P.
Shaders are amazing, and that video cannot represent them well at all.
Why did I just rant about a video on a random thread I found while searching out of curiosity? I have no idea.
Here are my own screenshots of it in MC JRE 1.11.2, showing different places where different features of the shader really shine.
I'm using the VanillaBDCraft 128x textures with it if you want to know.

Life is great when viewed from some angles. - Life sucks when viewed from others. - Right now, everyone is viewing life at the sucky angles.
They have no reason to, but they do it anyway. - Some of these people commit suicide. - Some do genocide. - Some just feel the need to mercilessly rebel.
And in doing so, they become one of the sucky angles that life can be viewed from. - And then others see it, and it spreads to them. - Don't let it spread to you. - Just ignore it.
If enough people ignore it, it will go away, fade, and all will be good again.
