I've been having a glitch where whenever I ride a horse it sort of glitch walks. What I mean by that is he will be riding but sort of stop for a second like it's lagging. It's annoying because my horse was fast and had a decent amount of health. Is my world to full? Do I need to break a few houses?
I think it's just the PS3 showing it's limitations- Most horses move faster than regular player speeds and it seems when you are entering chunks that have not yet been loaded that lag is the result of everything trying to render before you get there. As Gogorth pointed out, you can reverse direction and notice it is much smoother (since those chunk have now loaded).
Just be careful when you are near a cliff or lava or something- sometimes it will catch up and you will appear several blocks further than you thought you were,
My horse keeps disappearing when I leave to go do something then I have to tame a new one everytime! Even if I have its inside of a fenced in area. Its quite annoying and it needs fixed.
Yep. That happens to me too. Although, I tamed a horse and named him with a name tag to keep him from despawning. Then I tamed another horse and bred the two to make a third horse. All 3 have been hanging out in a small pen and the two unnamed horses haven't despawned yet, and they've been there for days! I don't know if I'm just lucky or if it is some sort of work around.
Hi, I'm new to Minecraft and have only played on the ps3 edition. I tamed my first horse and put my only saddle on it, I placed it in a fenced area that is 10x2x5 (to avoid despawning and all fences are 2 fence blocks high except for the doors), it did despawn which as was stated in other posts in this thread is normal (but still annoying) and I already know that my saddle is gone for good (unfortunately). Goforth_DMG posted a possible solution to this problem using name tags and I also saw some pics of horses/donkeys tied to a fence posts with leads on the wiki. I was wondering if anyone else can confirm that name tags will solve this issue (temporarily until a fix is made) and was wondering if simply tying up a horse with a lead will stop it from despawning. I haven't yet tamed another horse and won't be trying until I have a chance to find another saddle and I intend on acquiring either a name tag or a lead (or both if I can) to stop the horse from despawning so my second question is which of the 2 (name tag or lead) is easiest to acquire, I will be looking into this in-game when I have a chance but any help would be greatly appreciated.
This odd 'horse bug' makes tamed horses despawn despite being penned in properly. The only way to GUARANTEE that your horse/donkey won't despawn is by naming it with the name tag. Tying the horse to a fence post with a lead most likely won't stop it from despawning, from what we've seen.
The lead is easier to acquire because you can craft as many as you want; the name tag can only be found and there are a finite number of them in the world.
If you tame a horse/donkey, whether or not you name it with a name tag, I recommend getting in to the habit of taking the saddle off when you dismount. Keep the saddle in a nearby chest; at least then if tragedy strikes you don't lose your saddle.
Thank you Goforth_DMG, I hadn't even thought of taking the saddle back off as this was the first time I had run into an inventory on an animal, I will definitely be removing it from now on and I will look on the wiki to find out more about acquiring name tags. Thanks again.
My donkeys still despawn even though I used nametags on them. Don't know if that has happened to anyone else, but I'm waiting until the patch before I waste time taming and naming any more.
Hi I've just had the weirdest glitch, I tamed a horse (a really pretty one) put a saddle on it and got on it, but when I try to ride it It won't walk the only way I can get it to move when I'm riding it is by jumping and pushing forward the forward button. DOES ANYONE HAVE A SOLUTION TO THIS PROBLEM (it was a really pretty horse and I really want to ride it) please reply anyone that knows how to fix this problem! By the way I play on PS3
