A bit of history: Minecraft Awesome is the official Minecraft server of the website videogamesawesome.com. It’s a huge server with a lot of creative people and many amazing communities. Normally, the VGA crew highlights the Minecraft Awesome server by doing live tours of build challenges.
My series instead takes a look at the Minecraft communities that have sprung up and flourished. I’ve only used a tour guide once, so for the most part I just wander about aimlessly and look to highlight and explore interesting builds. All of my commentary is recorded live, and while most of it is based on looking at and discussing the locations I’m touring, occasionally I throw in some general commentary as well.
Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome is currently fifty-nine episodes strong.
I don’t harbor any dreams of becoming a major YouTube star, but I do think this series has a lot of heart and I think it shows off the creative works of many amazing people. As always, feedback and comments of any kind are appreciated. I never delete comments and I respond to a lot of them.
And that’s about it, hopefully you watch and enjoy the series. The official playlist of all the Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome videos is available at this link:
Thank you for watching, and I hope you enjoy the series.
The latest episode of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome is "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 59: Ohai Random!"
From the description: "One episode shy of the big six-zero, Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome takes a special look at a peculiar little community called Random. Founded by somebody named PdW2kX, Random is a free-to-build community where anyone can build anything anywhere for no other reason than because they can. Random is constantly growing and changing, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I love my little community, and I had a lot of fun showing it off."
This has been a long time coming, and it's my immense joy to present "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 60: PD Is Very Thankful And Celebrates 60 Episodes".
From the description: "For episode sixty of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome, I post my second "thank you" video in the show's history. I thank my loyal fans, my friends, and many other awesome people. I wouldn't have gotten here if it hadn't been for you, the viewer, so I wanted to once again take the time to thank you for all the love and support.
Thanks to you, I've recently accomplished one of my major YouTube goals: my entire account is now enabled for monetization, not just my most-popular videos. So I can now place ads on all of my videos. I apologize if they are distracting, but any and all revenue I receive from them will absolutely go towards making both my YouTube channel and my website bigger and better.
I hate to steal a line from Fraser, but... I love you. Here's to sixty more episodes, and one more time: I'm PdW2kX, and you are awesome."
The tour of my own community, Random, picks right back up with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 61: PD's modnaR Scrapshack".
From the description: "For episode sixty-one of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome, I continue the tour of Random, the community I founded. The highlight of today's episode features my new and very random home-away-from home, the Scrapshack."
Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome ends its combined Highlight Reel/Random Tour "arc" (and yes they're "arcs", because "episode chunks" doesn't sound as cool :tongue.gif:) with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 62: Everywhere A Sign"
From the description: "For episode sixty-two of MAIA, I finish the tour of Random and thus end my pre-1.8 videos. I know this episode is a little short, but I enjoy my Scrapshack signs so much that I felt it deserved its own episode. To me, few things are funner than reading the messages fans have left me."
Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome enters into its next big arc with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 63: Obelisk City Is Pure Eye Candy".
From the description: "Episode sixty-three of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome starts my next big "arc": the tour of Obelisk City. It's hard to define what Obelisk City is, and seeing is believing, so watch and enjoy as I tour one of the most awe-inspiring communities I've encountered so far in my trek throughout the Minecraft Awesome sever."
The tour of Obelisk City continues with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 64: Here Is The... Wow."
From the description: "Episode sixty-four of MAIA leads us ever-deeper into the astounding Obelisk City, a place filled with abstract awesomeness and crazy creativity. Most of the time I have no idea what I'm looking at, but I don't care because it's so nice to look at. Obelisk City is definitely one of the most impressive communities I've yet seen in my Minecraft Awesome wanderings."
It's my pleasure to present "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 65: Even More Obelisk Awesomeness".
From the description: "Episode 65 of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome continues the tour of the massive and massively-impressive Obelisk City. In a community filled with random wonders and crazy creations, I continue to act like a kid in a candy store. I simply can't say enough good things about Obelisk City."
The tour of Obelisk City begins to wind down in "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 66: PD Continues Tradition, Bathes With Tour Guides".
From the description: "Episode 66 of my little series continues the look at all the jaw-dropping goodness that is Obelisk City. And in the grand tradition I've established in several previous tours, this episode also sees me get a little up close and personal with my tour guide."
And so my current arc draws to a close with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 67: Goodbye Obelisk City!"
From the description: "Episode 67 of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome wraps up my tour of Obelisk City. By now you know what to expect: eye candy and lots of it. Obelisk was some of the most fun I've had as part of the Minecraft Awesome server, and I'd like to once more thank Savus and all the Obelisk City crew for being so awesome."
PD returns to Obelisk City for a quick wrap-up in "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 68: PD Returns For One Last Look At Obelisk Awesomeness".
From the description: "For episode 68 of my little series, I make a quick return to Obelisk City to take a final look at this amazing community of awesome builders. I tour a few things I missed, check out a build-in-progress, and give some thoughts on the Minecraft Awesome server in general. And of course, I'd like to thank Savus and all the Obelisk City crew once again."
MAIA enters its next major arc with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 69: The Secrets Of PD's Blast Mining Exposed".
From the description: "For episode 69 of MAIA, I post the blast mining tutorial I've been thinking of doing for quite some time. The next few videos fully outline how I mine, why I like mining, and my typical inventory when I go mining. Over the course of the videos I also give my thoughts on the future of the Minecraft Awesome server."
My blast mining tutorial continues with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 70: PD Blasts Minecraft's Walls Off".
From the description: "Episode 70 of MAIA continues my blast mining tutorial, as well as more random thoughts on mining and the Minecraft Awesome server in general."
It's a two-for-one special today, because I honestly just plain forgot to upload something on Saturday.
And so, PD's blast mining tutorial continues with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 71: Trust Your Gut, Toss Your Stuff" and concludes with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 72: Heading Home With All My Lovely Loot."
From the descriptions: "For episode 71 of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome, I continue to give away my secrets, tips, and tricks that have thankfully led me to become pretty darn rich in the Minecraft Awesome server. Whether it's trust your gut or choosing which items to throw away and when, mining with TNT is surprisingly nuanced. But it's also surprisingly awesome, since it more often than not pays for itself by at least double."
Also, "For episode 72 of my little series, I bring my blast mining tutorial to a close by addressing the silent killer of Minecraft miners everywhere: getting back to civilization once you're loaded down with loot. My way of digging straight up may not be practical or fast, but I've yet to die once using it. Plus I have a little trick if you come up in the middle of a lake/ocean. I had a lot of fun filming this tutorial, so I hope you enjoyed it!"
MAIA enters into its latest arc with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 73: Ohai Martin!"
From the description: "Episode 73 begins the "Mellis" arc of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome, as I'm toured around several awesome builds by the one and only Martin Ellis, also known as mellisbaker. He's arguably the most-known most-popular mod of all, and he's pretty awesome. It was a lot of fun checking out the builds he showed off, which are pretty awesome as well."
The Mellis arc continues with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 74: Cactus And Watermelon Are Kinda The Same Thing."
From the description: "Episode 74 continues the "Mellis" arc, as popular Minecraft Awesome and Video Games Awesome mod mellisbaker tours me around several interesting locations while I proceed to ramble about all manner of randomness while enjoying the sites."
Fraser, the server administrator, is ridiculously busy most of the time and recently took several days off to go to Minecon. If you e-mail him to remind him, I'm sure he'll read it. The only person that can actually whitelist you is Fraser, and he does it whenever he has time, so sometimes there is a bit of a wait.
But with that said...
It's my pleasure to present "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 75: Exploring The Mod-Exclusive Twin Peaks With Mellisbaker".
From the description: "Episode 75 is a real treat: not only does popular Minecraft Awesome mod mellisbaker continue to tour me around, he also shows off the mod-exclusive Twin Peaks community. I never saw the show so a majority of the references are lost on me, but the builds themselves are certainly impressive."
The Mellisbaker arc begins to draw to a close with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 76: Ryuuza's Modly Mansion Of Massiveness".
From the description: "For today's episode of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome, I refuse to heed the word of popular mod Mellisbaker and proceed to wander aimlessly around the giant mansion monstrosity belonging to another mod, Ryuzza. Plus, more of the pretty awesome Twin Peaks community."
And so the fun and decidedly awesome "Mellisbaker" arc concludes with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 77: Goodbye Mellisbaker, Hello Giant Mushroom Village".
From the description: "Episode 77 of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome wraps up the "mellisbaker" arc, as the popular and well-known (and awesome) Minecraft Awesome mod finishes showing off some awesome builds. The tour wraps up with a giant village made out of giant mushrooms, which is a pretty awesome concept that results in some pretty awesome builds. I had a lot of fun wandering the server with Mellisbaker, and I hope to maybe do it again sometime."
Posted this up a day early because the cold I'm battling still has me a bit loopy! But nevertheless, Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome begins its next arc with "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 78: Saying Goodbye With Another Highlight Reel".
From the description: "Episode 78 of Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome kicks off my second highlight reel, where I tour five random builds and talk randomly about them. It's also a texture pack highlight reel, where I look at five unique texture packs and sometimes give my thoughts on them as well. I start out with the anime-themed Otakutopia, while also giving a fond farewell to what is now the "old server", since RPG Month is officially upon us."
I'm a bit behind schedule, two episodes have been posted since I last posted in this topic. Sorry guys, I've been slacking a little lately because of some drama. But recently I've gotten some renewed determination, so I'm looking forward to continuing this series for as long as people keep liking it. That said,
The two episodes in this post are "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 79: Otakutopia Is Awesome" and "Minecraft Awesome Is Awesome Episode 80: Loving The Lovely Lushcraft, Plus Tardis And Arcadia!".
As stated before, I'm touring five unique locations while highlighting five awesome texture packs. Episode 79 focuses on the anime-themed Otakutopia, while Episode 80 looks at an awesome TARDIS build and the medieval-themed Kingdom of Arcadia. Hope you guys enjoy!
