I've surfed several other threads anywhere I could find to solve this, but it isn't working. Not to mention I've tried everything I can.

Do you have AVG? Is your \resource\newsound folder filled?

The reason why there isnt sound is becuse usually if you have a weak computer you dont download the resources folder which contains all the sounds. Unfortually i have that promblem it took me all day to update.
Someone needs to get a working resources folder so minecraft sound will play.

Sounds problems come from two places.

1. Sounds not being downloaded. Usually due to something like AVG LinkScanner or other firewall / antivirus program
2. Driver problems. Issues with OpenAL, codec, device driver that causes a crash when trying to turn up the volume.

I have all of my soundfiles - both sound, newsound, music, newmusic, etc. But it still does not work, or play the sounds/music.
