Ive been getting horrible fps drops in a certain chunk behind my house in singleplayer. I will be getting 100+ fps until i get to this chunk. Then it drops to 0-1 fps. It is impossible to play in this area.
I installed buildcraft a little while ago and i have a couple quarries running in this chunk. I also have 10 wells with storage tanks 40 blocks tall that is full. When I first built all of this i had all 10 pumps running on a 5 minute timer. It worked great, But when i put 12 combustion engines it would lag bad. I assumed it was to many animations running at once. So i setup switches to turn off the pumps i wasnt using and that solved the problem.
That was about a month ago. Now the problem has seemed to return with a vengeance. I thought that maybe it was the same problem as before. So for half an hour at 1 fps i traveled 100 blocks and shut off my quarries and everything using engines. That did not fix the problem.
I have tried lowering every setting possible with optifine and nothing helps. Except changing view distance to tiny, I can get a little bit closer before it lags. But once it starts it doesn't stop till i get out of the chunk. Ive disabled all my mods, put it on peaceful but nothing helps. This is extremely aggravating since everything was working perfectly before. It has essentially stopped my projects because I cannot do anything.
Im on minecraft 1.2.5. I have optifine, mo creatures, tmi and spc installed. I am using sphax purebdcraft 128x texture pack. I have increased java to use 4gb of ram. I made a .bat file to launch minecraft with 4gb of ram (i have 6gb.)
I jusrt tried deleting my .jar and forcing update. I didnt install any mods after this and what do you know... It still lagged in this chunk. So it isnt related to any of my mods.
Im nearly at my wits end. If anyone has an suggestions please let me know.
The mods may have wrote information into those chunks which could be the source of the lag. I am not familiar with the mod you were using so I have no idea if the animations were the problem. Has it ever crashed on you?

The only time my minecraft has ever crashed was when i tried a 512x texture pack. But since Ive increased the memory for minecraft Ive never had a crash and it has never crashed when lagging. Actually the memory drops from 1gb ram used down to 256mb. Ive let it sit while lagging for over 30 minutes to see what would happen. Nothing happened, still lagged.
