All of the tutorials for snapshot installation say to replace the old minecraft.jar file with the new one from the snapshopt. The 12w21a clinet I downloaded from the front page doesn't have a minecraft.jar file in it. How do I get this puppy installed??

Battle not with creepers, lest ye become a creeper, and if you gaze into the ravine, the ravine gazes also into you.
You need to download the minecraft_server.jar and mincraft.jar
1. Switch your minecraft.jar so rename the old one something else and move the new one in.
2. make a file called server in your .minecraft folder
3. place the minecraft_server.jar inside of the server file and Happy Minecrafting.
Hope this helped. If so add some reputation please.
Sorry, it's 12w21b that I'm trying to install. What I downloaded was minecraft.zip. I've extracted it to the .minecraft folder, and nada. Do I need to get 12w21a as well? Again, minecraft.zip does not contain a minecraft.jar file. So, I downloaded 12w21a as well. It doesn't contain a minecraft.jar file either. This is my first attempt at installing a snapshot. I've no idea on what I'm missing here.

1. Download the .zip. Do not extract it!
2. Copy the zip to %appdata%\.minecraft\bin
3. Make sure you're showing file extensions
4. Rename the current minecraft.jar to minecraft.jar.old
5. Rename minecraft.zip to minecraft.jar
OK, Mojang! I just did some process documentation there for you!
