I'm having trouble with Minecraft itself. A long time ago in Alpha i downloaded Minecraft and my old computer totally shut down. When I got it again on my new computer after the 1.7 beta update, Only the file was present and the .minecraft was not there! As of now I have four worlds, including the single player one I'm using now.
I was able to recover my old .minecraft and put it in the folder my Minecraft game was in to see if that would do anything, but the game ignored it! My Artsy's First World was in the folder but did no appear in the world selection! My world titled Minecraft 1 world (the one I'm using now) doesn't exist anywhere!
Maybe the client has nothing to do with it, and that stuff IS being saved somewhere on my computer. But in that case how and where do I find it?
I'm sorry if this isn't clear, but I must know what's going on so I can use custom maps and backup my files!

You've searched in:
Start Menu > (Run on Windows XP) %APPDATA% > Roaming > .minecraft .
That's where you searched, right?
And are you using a Windows Machine, Machintosh or a Linux?
