OK so I'm the Mum of a 10 year old boy and he bought the game minecraft with his Christmas money so as far as I'm aware, he has access to the full version of the game BUT neither of us can work out this multiplayer system...
He's spent a good couple of months now honing his skills in single player and watching youtube vids of people getting into other worlds and going on adventures... and would really like to get into other worlds and actually play an interactive version of the game himeslf but when we click on multiplayer, is says can't connect to a server. We also can't find any links to server names or keys in order to join any. How on earth do you join a multiplayer game???
Also, in answering this question, if anyone has an idea of a good server to join that is 'safe' for kids and not too difficult, I'd appreciate that too... This technology is way over my old brain :blink.gif: :wink.gif: :tongue.gif:
Well first, the IP should look something like this 70.135.33.110. If it looks like 192.168.2.1, that's totally wrong and won't work.
The first IP listed is the external IP, and the second is the internal IP. I guess I could explain what IPs are. An IP address is basically like your street address. It individualizes you from all the other computers in the world.
Once you or your son find one that he likes, just copy the IP address, then go back into the Multiplayer and click 'add server'. Paste the IP in the Server Address (Second box). Dont forget to Add a name in the top one.
But also some servers are 'whitelisted' which means that you can't enter unless your signed up too. It'll tell you whether or not it is, and how to join.
Ok, hope I helped, if you dont understand anything feel free to reply
