Black screen...yet it worked yesterday!

For some reason, minecraft won't load properly. I get to the launcher perfectly fine, but then a black screen.
What's weird, is that it worked yesterday too...

What's going on?

Did you install a mod wrong? You need to give more information.

Try force updating your Minecraft by clicking options before logging in.

All mods i have is TMI. Worked fine yesterday. I forced an update, that didn't work either.

If it helps, i'm running linux.

Did you leave the .jar out in the sun? They kind of dry up if you leave them out too long.

I'm not sure. I did clean up some things w/ the utility ubuntu comes with. Maybe it accidentally deleted some things java related.

nah, i love linux.
I can get it for windows, but I'm too lazy to update my drivers for it. It's staying on linux.I can try uninstalling minecraft and java, and reinstalling it. Luckily, I have map backups...

I overwritten my 1.0 copy of minecraft w/ 1.8
That didn't work. methinks its java that screwed me over. I'll try again later.

I just reinstalled minecraft and java...still nothing.

What do black screens usually associate with, besides mods?

Edit: I do realize that the Disk Janitor for ubuntu deleted some packages required for Hamachi...possibly related w/ minecraft.

Edit 2: reinstalled hamachi...that didn't work either. WTF.

well, I tried to keep TMI. But then I just decided to do a fresh install.
So I deleted the .minecraft folder and any other traces.

Installed it again.

I could log in, but then BLACK SCREEN.

It's java. I can't even run the online version. That's weird...

Can anybody help? I've been sitting here downloading packages of java, but i still get the black screen. Google isn't being much help either.

Anyone linux savvy please tell me what synaptic packages you have installed for java?

Weird today I typed Minecraft.net then a blank white page popped up..... I thought maybe it was hacked. The website crashed or something.
