One of my friends recently suggested I may enjoy Minecraft. I looked up some tutorials and videos on YouTube and came to the conclusion that it looks like an interesting and enjoyable game (who wouldn't love building and destroying eh?)
I am aware that the update policy is no longer a lifetime update (only for those who paid during the alpha stage I believe)? So I was wondering what update policy they use now. I take it that anyone who pays in version 1.0 gets all versions up to (but not including) 2.0 and then has to pay an upgrade fee to use further versions, repeating the process. That's generally how these things work.
I'm curious about this before I go off and buy it. I like to know the update terms on my software before hand so if anyone knows, please post and let me know!
At this point I think policy is "Everyone still gets it free, just keep updating like before". Really, Notch only took the promise out during Beta cause the "never pay for an update again" scared his lawyers.
Aha. So basically it was more of a "just in case" rather than an absolute then? Just in case they ever decide they want or need to charge for upgrades they can? That's fair enough then.
