I am home from college for the holiday week, and our two home computers are both Windows XP (yay, no Vista).
BUT, Mincecraft will not run on them. It comes up with a black screen after force-updating files screen, and locks up. Then, it slowly builds it's memory usage. When I force-closed it with task manager, it was using 400,000kBs memory (and rising).
One computer is an ATI video card with Intel chipset, and other is NVIDIA card with Intel chipset.
Whats going on? (yes I tried the sticky thread, no it didn't help)
Also, the browser version doesn't work either...
LOL, can someone help me? I am bored outta my mind...
YES, Java is up to date. YES, I tried re-installing Java. NO, my computer is not a POS, it runs much more intense games just fine.
I recommend Windows 7. I for one was happy to get out of the ugly UI of xp, however the severe performance loss was an issue... (The jump for XP to Vista). -Oh, and I have to play it on Vista, RAM sucks on Vista.
I hear Windows 7 isn't so bad.
you would be MUCH better with Vista, its way better
