The Problem:
Alright, so here's my problem. Sometimes, out of nowhere, Minecraft will hang randomly but not close. I use MagicLauncher to start my game. I am not able to close the game itself. I googled the problem and found a megathread; (http://social.techne...95-5fa53dc62661) however, there was no answer there. The real issue here is that it's using 2GB+ of memory, (as much as Minecraft usually does) but it's not responsive. I use Optifine to increase my FPS, but the problem still occurs when I play without mods.
What I've Tried:
Pushing the X button on the game.
Ending java.exe in task-manager
Ending Minecraft in task-manager
Giving myself SYSTEM rights and ending the process with taskmanager (This is higher than the default administrator rights in Windows)
Using taskkill /F from CMD
Giving myself SYSTEM rights and ending the process with TASKKILL /F
Going to Process Explorer and ending all of the handles to java.exe
Giving myself SYSTEM rights and going to Process Explorer and ending the handles to java.exe
Turning my computer off via soft-shutdown (The start menu way) [It just hangs at the shutdown screen.]
Playing in Browser to try and avoid the problem (It freezes Chrome as well as the game itself)
Using PSTools to kill java.exe
It just will not close. unless I do a hard-shutdown. (Holding the power button)
My Computer Specifications:
OS: Windows 7 (SP1) 64-bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 @ 2.2Ghz
Memory: 8GB
GPU: Intel Express Chipset Family
It is a possibility that one of the installed 3rd party application is causing the conflict. You are required to perform a clean boot to find the program that is causing this and then disable or remove it.
Here is the procedure to do it:
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
User Account Control permission.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the
password, Or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.
8. Also you need to uninstall and reinstall the problem software on your computer.
Reset the computer to start as usual
9. After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
Click Start, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
10. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
11. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.
It's a problem with your computer or hardware
so I think really the only way to fix it is to get new hardware or computer

Well, I've not seen any other people with this problem, as such, I suppose you are correct. Unfortunately, I am not able to get a new computer, and I can't change much of my hardware due to it being a laptop.

Thank you.
It does. I should probably add that to the OP.
It freezes whatever browser I'm using and makes it non-responsive as-well.
Have you actually tried running it on linux? Because that would get rid of the software being one of the posabilities.
also try ending with kill procces tree
i don't really thik you can fix this problem much...
I'll post my specs in the OP as-well.
I start it with:
Also, when I said I tried taskmanager in OP, I meant I tried killing process and process tree.
