Since I've switched to a mac (for music purposes), when I'm running Minecraft, everything else runs really slowly. My barely-educated is that it's since Minecraft is running in 32bit Java, but I need a second opinion on that. If this is the problem, does anyone know how to run Minecraft in 64bit Java? I've looked it up and I know my computer (13" MacBook Pro 2.66GHz 4GB RAM) is capable of running 64bit Java.
Did your world disappear from minecraft? Is it corrupt? Lags? Can't move? "Saving Chunks" Crash? Crashes when you open chests? It can be saved!

If your MacBook Pro has two graphics processors, use gfxCardStatus (http://codykrieger.com/gfxCardStatus) to force it to use the integrated graphics while doing "everything else". That should prevent the slow down. As for the cause of this problem, I can only speculate that Minecraft uses some part of the discrete processor's advanced features, thus causing it to slow everything else down.

Apple has their own version of Java that comes with the iOS, so I don't think I can do that.
I did, didn't see anything relating to this on there other than in-game slow-ness.
