Hey guys so recently i've had a problem with minecraft,so every time i run minecraft for 2 hours or so my computer starts to lag A TON! not minecraft but my computer.
So my computer has been notifying me about java using too much RAM and i have 4GB's of RAM and i do not understand how this would've happened if java only uses 1gb of ram for programs or so i've heard, correct me if i am wrong.
This has started happening 2 days ago and it still says i have 3.8 GBS of RAM usable.
Here are my specs.
Processor - Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU M 430 @2.27GHZ 2.27 GHZ.
RAM - 4,00 GB(3,87 GB usable).
System - 64 bit operating system.
Memory - 450 GB about 230 still usable.
Video Card - Don't remember but that shouldn't be a problem
as it just started happening about 2 days ago.
Also some stuff i cant identify on my computer or specs.
4GB DDR3 Memory
Intel Core i5-430M Processor
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470,512MB VRAM - i think thats my video card.
500GB HDD
Hope this helps, also i am getting 500 bucks after 11 days
so i can upgrade my computer and i was thinking about getting more
RAM but what was her name again ah don't remember but she
told me i have loads of ram and dont need no more but now i am not
so sure about that.
I appreciate all the help i can get.

So which process in the Task Manager is using all your resources when you computer is lagging?
Java(TM) basically what minecraft uses or its the second most.
The one that always uses the most is scvhost which is always running probably something important.

Perhaps your virus scanner is doing a scan at that moment? Or some other background process?
No i had that thought but it isnt doing a scan and i am going to close a bunch of background processes to check and i am going to do a full scan, maybe a virus?.

Have you dowloaded a java update latley? or installed anything new the last days that uses java?
Because to me it sounds like Java dont have its full memory allocated to its use anymore.
Don't know but the list has changed.
It's javaw that uses 380k memory and then chrome which uses 100k and then scvhost which uses about 90k.
And no i havent installed anything new lately except optimine and optifog.

hmmm, well optimine and optifog are pretty good programms so they shouldent be doing anything to your java, but have you looked in the settings for optifine? You are able to change almoste everything your self like allocated memory and such. So perhaps its a version where someone allready has tweaked it to fitt there pc, but that woulde be strange to upload. But se what memory is allocated in to optifine and let me know.
Where can i find optifine?.

It shoulde be in your install foulder after installing any opti programm, btw what version did you install of the opti programms? And on to a mod? Because they dont get a long with to many mods at al. Check the mincraft.jar for optifine.
I installed the 1.7.3 version and i did not find any optifine but i found optifog which said something about optifine.
Also in the jar there was nothing on the optifine thing.

strange, it shoulde have a text file somewhere that got al the settings for the programm including memory allocations. But then They must have changed the input of the programm, sence i played with it last. sorry for not being much help in that case. Btw Optifine is the name of the combined programm that is optimine and optifog in one. It bugs me that the settings file shoulde be in minecraft.jar. Cant understand where els they woulde have put it. perhapse they namned it something els now. Look for a textfile that got to do with opti programms. And if you find the settings one look for java memory allocation numbers.
Kay i will try.
