-----------------------

I just downloaded windows 7 pro due to my old OS crashing on me. Any idea what I need to do to fix this? In addition my motherboard was replaced.
O jeeze. Ok I've worked with about every graphics driver update help on here :smile.gif:. I need your system specs before i can get anywhere. I'm here for ya. So don't go crashing your system :wink.gif:
Sorry, I should have been more specific. Where can I find the files I need to fix the problem. My OS is win 7 pro, My laptop is a Sony Vaio VPCEE23FX and my credit card number is 6845345341008375 and my graphics adapter is a standard VGA graphics adapter. Before I reformatted my HD, minecraft ran perfectly on the highest and most graphics intensive settings.

Ok I need your RAM and your Graphics Card, To check your graphics card Hit the start menu button. Right click computer, Hit Manage (You need to be an administrator to do this) and in the "Manage" tab go to Device Manager(It should be a bit down the list on the left. Under device manage hit the Drop down arrow next to Display Adapter, Usually whatever this says is your graphics card. If you have more than one post both. To find out how much RAM you have right Right Click computer, and go to properties, and it should be about in the Middle named, Installed Memory (RAM)

graphics card is already in there.
ram is 4gig 3.49 usable
"Standard VGA Graphics" means your drivers arent installed.
It's someone asking you what kind of car you have, and you go "The one with wheels". You aren't wrong.. But.. it doesnt help.

Did your world disappear from minecraft? Is it corrupt? Lags? Can't move? "Saving Chunks" Crash? Crashes when you open chests? It can be saved!

er, If it's a standard VGA adapter, I don't think you'll be doing anything minecraft related on there. I'm not very familiar with them but I'm looking them up and they don't have a very good reputation. The graphics card is one of the main things. If your graphics card has high rendering and processing power it should be good. Minecraft is different from most games. Not depending on high end graphics but on a lot of Rendering, as it has to Render chunks out as you explore the world.
Thanks for voordal and clearing that up for me.
So we still need the graphics card
That should be the driver for your laptop. If it's just a 'no drivers installed' issue, thatll fix it. If it doesnt, then we're going to have to get into the "Minecraft and ATI are not friends" troubleshooting.

Hey thanks for the input. As it turns out I fixed the problem with a shot in the dark. I right clicked the drive and one of the options was to update it. Once the update finished the name was also updated(ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200). My guess, is that the problem came from when I got my motherboard replaced. And so with my laptop all fixed up now, I have been happily playing minecraft for the last hour or so (while my internet was knocked out >.>)

But seriously, any idea where I can find what I need? One of my major problems is coming from the fact that my laptop didn't come with win 7 pro.
