So I normally stay on peaceful seeing as I normally literately work all day and all night building and modding, but when I'm not and I'm just working around my house, I normally turn hard on before going to bed so in the morning I can let the skeletons burn and then collect the bones.
But lately I'm woken up in the middle of the night because a zombie is trying to kill me.
This has happened quit a few times even thought I've made sure all doors are closed, and lately I've had to board up my doors.
So, can zombies open doors?

No they cant, they spawn next to you if its dark near your bed

From my experience, zombies CAN'T open doors. But if you are sleeping in the bed and there is zombies next to you when you wake up, it must be something in your house that let's them in... I guess the only way the zombie could "open" a door is trough a pressure plate.

Add more light to your bedroom and that won't happen. No mob can open doors. this will always happen unless around your bed is well-lit.

Make sure the bed isn't right up against a wall. If it's in the middle of a well-lit room you should be fine.

They can in new update but usually they spawn right next to u bed
