i bought minecraft beta about 30 minutes ago, and when i download the launcher, it downloads all the files, and it says "done downloading", but then the launcher suddenly closes out, and nothing happens. i need help on this, i wanna play minecraft so bad!!
I don't think that's anywhere close to what you need to play Minecraft. Although Minecraft is a simple game, it heavily hogs up resources during Map rendering.
May as well get a full data dump: are you on a desktop or laptop, what OS are you using, and exactly how far does the loading get? Also, for people a little more experienced in helping with this sort of thing, there is actually a particular forum for getting tech help, here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum/10-support/ Hope this helps!

How is it possible for your computer to even turn on, my laptop has 220 gigabytes how can yours have half a gigabyte. I don't think your reading correctly.

We are talking about RAM, not disk space Einstein.
i right clicked on my computer and checked properties, and it said 540 MB RAM. if this is the problem, ill just buy more space on it or something, but i have a feeling it also might be my graphics card, which is a SiS 760. The launcher says "done downloading" but the green download bar doesnt fully complete, its really an inch or two from completing. i have a windows XP on a desktop (compaq). so ill just buy a stick of RAM and maybe a new graphics card to replace my outdated one.
oh yeah, it gives me this error every time i try to open it:

That is only half of 1 gigabyte.
No wonder you can't play it. get more RAM and come back to us afterwards.
You almost have enough RAM to play Minesweeper.
