Well, I recently decided to take a whack at Minecraft and updated to patch 1.6.6_.
However, there seems to be a very troubling issue regarding my overall performance. Every two to three seconds, Minecraft decides to do some terrible stuttering that ultimately hinders my ability to properly play this game. Here's the primary issue, my performance diagnostics(F3) shows a major spike whenever I move around. This is most likely due to the fact that the engine is having trouble loading chunks. It doesn't seem to be taking too much out on my two Cpus since the spike only effects about 12% of my memory usage. I've attempted to shut down one processor while running Minecraft and running it at a higher priority, no cigar though. It seems as if loading chunks is too difficult.
Now for a solution, I've already eliminated any performance issues relating to Minecraft, so obviously my best decision would be to downgrade my client to 1.6.0_.
Does anyone have any clue as to how I can fix this without having to repatch my client? Perhaps I missed something or didn't think of it.
