I'm not sure why, but all of a sudden while playing Minecraft it causes my entire monitor to black out, as if it's sleeping. It doesn't happen with anything except Minecraft. The computer can run hours without end and never have this problem while playing any other game or doing anything else; however, if I'm in Minecraft for about 5 minutes, my computer acts like it goes to sleep. At first I thought it was a hardware failure, but after realizing it is 'just' Minecraft.. I'm confused. If you need any information, just ask, would be nice if someone know's what is wrong. I also started over with a new version of Minecraft (it happened after I put in some mods, so I thought it might be that) and it still happens..
Let me see if I can help but first I need details like hardware OS stuff like that and if this is just recent or if this has bin happening since you got Minecraft for all I know it could be that your computer cant handle it (no matter how weird that seams). if u can give me details and I can see what I can do
Just happened as in a couple of days ago and I've been playing for a while now. I can run Minecraft with a 128x128 (even 256x256) texture pack with no lag (as I've done this for almost as long as I've owned Minecraft so it much outdates the problem). The Operating System is Windows 7 64-bit and the computer has an Intel i7 Q720 @ 1.6GHz (it's a quad core) with 8 Gigs of RAM. The computer itself is an ASUS G73JH.
Like I said, the problem is recent so I'm not sure what's wrong. But I'll keep looking. Thanks in advance if you can help.
you have a weird problem have you tried reinstalling java and all that other common fix things if so try that out and if all else fails reinstall minecraft not by deleting the bin folder delete the entire minecraft folder (backup saves if necessary) if nothing works see if its printing out an error message that way i can see where the program goes wrong. usually people only get a black window not monitor.
