hello i am using a few mods (didnt see a general mod support forum so i hope this goes here) and my game is having FPS problems so i was wondering i saw around the web a few ways to increase the ram usage of minecraft but i cant seem to get them working could anyone post a step by step tutorial on how to get that? or link to a good one? thanks in advance :biggrin.gif:
PS: i have 6GB of ram so i dont think its anything like lol956MB ram cant run minecraft problem
You don't need to download the Linux version, it works perfectly fine with the regular clien :smile.gif:
Just create a .bat file containing:
java -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -jar "path to minecraft.exe"
Make sure to enclose the filepath in quotes as shown. Also worth bearing in mind is that if you are running 32-bit Java the maximum memory heap size is a little under 1.4GB if I recall, trying to use values greater than this will just cause the game to crash on startup, so make sure you have the 64-bit version installed.
Yes i have win7 64-bit i tried the first one downloaded the .jar and put in the path to my .jar i just downloaded and didnt work it pulled up a black CMD prompt box and closed millaseconds later same with second thing
C:\Users\Owner\Desktop\Minecraft
is the path to my .exe and i put that between the ""'s
please tell me what i did wrong thx

Actually, the "normal" launcher is the jar.
@OP Wait, you are trying to INCREASE the RAM usage? Ha ha ha.
FPS problems aren't caused by RAM in your case.
/facepalm
lol i'll try my normal .jar then thx :biggrin.gif:
EDIT:
java -Xms2048m -Xmx2048m -jar "C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\bin"
is what i have in the file i named "Minecraft.bat and saved to my desktop and still opens and shuts super fast

Mods:
First, grab yourself the Linux version of the Minecraft launcher from the MC website.
Second, Open notepad and put this:
set MCJAVA=java
set MC="C:/(Wherever you have your Minecraft linux .jar located.
%MCJAVA% -Xmx2048M -Xms2048M -jar %MC%minecraft.jar
(Note: For the -Xmx and -Xms functions, you can use and amount of RAM you want Minecraft to use, I just use 2GB because it's a decent amount.)
Third, save the notepad file as a .bat file, and Every time you Click this, it should launch MC.
Enjoy ^-^
