This seems to be happening to a lot of people, despite notch calling it a "performance upgrade"
I don't know a solution, but you might feel better considering you're not alone :/
I don't even know if it affects me.. i'm still on 1.4_01.
i do feel better knowing i'm not alone :smile.gif: but i didn't know it was happening to ALOT of people, thought it was only for a few people from what I seen
Huge performance improvements for old and slow computers.
Taken straight from the minecraft wiki version history
Dosn't seem to be correct from what I see, it's like the slower and older comps got worse and the more powerful comps, that could already play the game fine, can now play the game better from the update.
i'm playing on a brand new laptop. I5 4 gig ram and have to place blocks several times. and am getting 1 to 3 FPS regularly. it clears up for short bursts then slows again. My desktop is an i7 it run well on that except for frequent kicks. The DLL fix in the forums helped but it still random boots. I love minecraft but i'm getting frustrated. (BTW Playing on a 3 meg low latency DSL) my Desktop kicks even on my 12 meg connection at the office. I don't think its an ISP issue. I have doe all the fixed i've found in the forums and still am having issues
Could it be related to an antivirus or something. Not a programmer... just a gamer.... thanks
For the human eye the 16fps is a magical number. Above that we wont see any difference compared with 16fps (If something moves in a high frequency you will see a difference but only then). So its hardly possible that you will see a difference between 50 and 60 fps.
If it laggs like hell and the game/fraps shows up 50fps something goes wrong with your machine or the server (if u play mp).
btw if you think u need a boost try the mod [1.5_01] Optimine *UNOFFICIAL* http://www.minecraftforum.net/viewtopic.php?f=1032&t=264418"
it can give you a huge boost. some guys get +30fps (me just +15; running now with a 64x texture pack with 30-40 fps)
This is a MYTH. Even movies are run at 24FPS. In minecraft, I can tell the difference between 20, 50, 100, and even 200 FPS. My computer never went above 200, so I'm not sure about beyond that, but even between 100 FPS and 200 FPS, you can notice a difference.
Anyone else noticing this. Also I am using an integrated graphics card so i dunno if thats the reason.
Before i was getting around 60 FPS
Now i am getting around 50-60 FPS, but even then it seems choppier when walking around
Specs are:
Windows Vista Home premium(4 years old)
dual core @ 2.2GHZ
1 gig DDR2 RAM
nvidia Geforce 6150 LE(integrated graphics)
Anyone else having problems?
Well, your system can use an upgrade (a $50 video card and 1 GB of ram ($20) should get you over 100FPS easily).
Check out my video card guide if you're interested. Don't just buy any $50 card. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=285745
Make sure your computer can support the card though (power supply and power cables [some newer video cards require a 6pin or 8pin power cable]. I had to spend an extra $5 buying that cable.
If you don't want to upgrade, it's fine.
I have a similar system and I got similar FPS rates. AMD single core 2.4GHz, 2 GB DDR2, 6150SE, Vista. In the 1.5 update, my FPS shot up to around 80FPS, and 1.5_01 dropped me to under 40, caused crashes, sometimes went below 10FPS, and things looked all weird. I had to tinker around with my video card driver and settings to fix it.
If those don't work, you can try optimine, gamebooster, etc, but those options didn't really help my system improve. They sort of caused crashes on their own.
christimpano: Check your ram usage in taskmanager while you are playing. Your onboard is probably using system memory further reducing that total.

ALl I can say for now.

I posted a guide on how to optimize your nvidia settings: viewtopic.php?f=17&t=301104

Stop spreading this, it is untrue.
