Hello, I recently downloaded minecraft off the official website, I used google chrome to download it, and I am running windows XP SP3. I just downloaded the latest version of java, so outdaded java is not the problem. Also I had troubles with viruses a couple days ago which deleted a lot of my files, so some missing file could possibly be the case but here it goes...
Everytime i click minecraft.exe after I download it, I just get a screen that says: Open file, security warning. And asks me if I allow this .exe file to run. I say run, and nothing happens. Nothing at all. I would really like some help with this as I would (obviously) like to play minecraft.
Go to task manager and check if minecraft.exe or javaw.exe is running.
Weird. I'm not sure how this can be resolved.
None of those are running.
When i launch it, minecraft.exe runs for about, 1/2 a second before going away.
Anything other program running unusually? I think the virus might have corrupted some files. Maybe you can try running a repair installation off the Windows disk, but this is pure speculation here. Might work or not work.
Hey man, please let it be known if you find a resolve to this issue... maybe we all coincidently have the same corrupted problems that are hindering us from using the .exe file. I don't have my Windows disk but if I find out I need it I will get it, let me know what happens!
Yeah, I did virus scans, nothing, then I got firefox, nothing, and browser wont work, the page will just freeze as soon as I go onto it. Ill try and reformat my harddrive to get rid of any corrupted files and see if it's back to normal. Just gotta find the windows disk...
