Nothing happens but the window closing. That's it. No crash reports, error messages, anything. Nothing at all.
This doesn't happen on my work computer but on my gaming rig the window closes randomly and that's it. There's no specific thing I'm doing (as far as I can tell) that's causing it to close. I had Ubuntu on this machine before and nothing like this had happened, when I installed Windows 7 about a week ago this started happening. The worst part is, it's completely random. I'd say every 3-6 minutes it closes and if I'm lucky I can go about 10 minutes.
I'm back in the same spot I was, with all the items I had before the "crash", except any blocks that were modified after the save are now in the save's original state.
For example, let's say I'm mining a tunnel for about 10 minutes and then I find diamond and I mine it out, and the last auto save was 5 minutes ago. The game crashes, I open MC back up and play my world, and I'm in the same spot I was before with all my items, suffocating in the stone that WAS a tunnel before the crash.
This pretty much renders the game unplayable for me. And yeah, I TRIED to find a solution. If anyone can provide some help, I'd be happy to have your babies. pl0x.

This is the result of a memory leak in the game code. If you open your processes you should notice javaw.exe consume more and more and more and more ram until it gets to be too much for you system to handle (probably about 1gb). I have no idea if its a known issue or how to fix it but ive been trying to draw attention to it.
I just started having this problem as well. My first world worked great for over a week, then I decided to create a new world. After playing in the new world for a couple hours, the game randomly closed and I lost all my changes to the world. My inventory and position were preserved, though. A couple days later I tried creating a third world, and that one only lasted about 20 minutes before it closed. The interesting thing about the third world is I had barely done anything at all - not much travel, minimal world changes. In the first world, the one that never crashed, I had made extensive changes to the world. When the game crashes, only the active world's save is affected. The others appear to be fine.
I don't use any mods or texture packs, just vanilla Minecraft on Windows 7 SP1 64-bit. I'll keep experimenting to see if I can narrow this down.
Same problem for me. After x minutes the game stops, goes to a black screen, moves to a smaller window, and than I have to force close the program because it stops responding.
I too have Windows 7, and i know i have the system specs to play this game on full everything with no problem, if only it would stop this crashing. I've tried re-installing it, I don't use any mods of any kind, it happens in both multiplayer and single player, except the problem that the OP said doesn't exist for multiplayer because the server saves it regardless of if you crash or not, I have tried installing newer versiosn of java including both 32-bit and 64-bit internet explorer versions but nothing I do seems to fix it.
Mine closes but its different than black screen. It just randomly... Closes. between 2-10 minutes of playing. Ive tried deleting app data and updating drivers and i cant get it to stop :/
I have the EXACT problem I believe. Except my saved don't get deleted in any way at all. The game just randomly decides to close with no warning or anything. I guess I'm sorta a lucky one.
Used to have this same exact problem. Make sure your render distance is on anything but the largest option. I changed that and all problems were immediatley fixed :smile.gif:

Does it affect all your save files?

I'm having the same problem then.
This only applies to a single save, not the game overall.
