I use Windows, and my cousin's laptop has pretty much gone berserk with viruses, and thus does not work very well. So we have started to try and use Ubuntu, and if anyone could give me help with installing Java on there would be nice. I know there are probably countless guides on the internet, but I just can't manage to get it to work. If anyone would be nice enough to give me a quick run through that would be nice. All he really wants to do is play Minecraft and access the internet, which Ubuntu is good for. So we were hoping someone could help out.
ok heres the thing ill give you the break down since im running ubuntu too and java works. You need to update it with firefox update and the ubuntu softwarecenter flash and anything java related for maximum preformance. to run minecraft you need to get jar file that your gonna play with and put on desktop which you will then go into properties, then permissions tab and allow executable and then after that you should run with openjdk java 6 runtime and there you go. :biggrin.gif: if you need better explaination i will or pm or skype me
