I have the exact same thing going on. I'm running XP. No firewall, turned off the anti-virus, updated java. nothing seems to be working. and it only happens in multiplayer, no matter what server I join.
Also I can't chat at all while in the server. I get the text box come up and lets me type, but as soon as I hit enter nothing happens.
Using standard exe downloaded from site or the webpage, I am on a solid wired connection directly to the cable modem. from the f3 read out, its allocating 100% and using less then 30%.
F3 doesn't really mean much thus you use a .bat file... what model is the modem/router, firmware installed, NIC card and driver version, dxdiag up to sound devices and post a speedtest.org result and a traceroute to the server.
I know I'm on a 5 meg connection. Standard factory hardware and firmware for the modem the cable company gave me, damn thing doesn't even have a company brand on it, yeah, OEM all the way thanks charter. I tried to do a standard ping to the server, and it timed out so I think their firewall blocks just regular pings, not really sure. I can connect to it, I can move around in the first little chunk that will load, and that's about it. Does the game have any sort of reload function to force the map to re-render itself?
Edit: NEW INFO, though I don't think it will help much.
Edit of the edit: I forgot to mention, basically I crashed it by holding f3 while it hit the end of stream error, so it totally finished crashing it out.

no it sounsd like a network bottleneck... "standard" firmware/drivers is usually a BAD thing as the release updates to fix issues like that. Look into the WoW and Checksum Offload issues, or wireless N, the idea is the same. Also a PING isn't as useful as a traceroute as it should time out at some point and a specific hop could be an issue.
It was the motherboard drivers. I got thinking about it and when you said the network card, I was like wait, that's integrated, so I just got new drivers, problem solved. You are a genius, thank you so much.
