So about 3 months ago, I was playing minecraft perfectly well. No problems, worked just fine with graphics set to 'fast' and the fog distance set to 'tiny', of course I'd get a bit of lag when I had it set on anything other than 'peaceful', and when I run into a large mountain or a bunch of caves, but that was bearable.

But now when I play, its laggy all the time, no matter how much I let it load the surrounding level before sauntering off.

I haven't gotten any viruses and I keep my computer rather tidy with ccleaner. Is it something Notch implemented in an update or something? I just can't play Minecraft like this.

Also, any news on when he'll implement multiple threading?

What are your sytem spec's? Minecraft will not use alot of ram? I would assume it is your internet connection, Press Control Alt Delete Go To Task Manager Click Proccesses Any Unused Applications Running Shut them down, (Not Windows, Or Linux Applications) If you have any troubles after doing that post again.

I only ever have my antivirus and Pidgin running at any given time.

My specs are -

1.6 ghz dual core processor
GMA 950 Integrated Graphics Card
2.5 gb ram

Its not that great, but its not shitty either. So I know I can run this just fine. I run San Andreas with NO lag all the time, even with graphics on high, why should Minecraft be so hard to run?

What is your internet connection, And SA-MP? Or Just San Andreas? I beleive the only other case is your Internet connection is slow. You wouldent notice it surfing the web but in games yes.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the internet. I have a fast connection, and I play with the desktop client.

So does anybody know how to make it run faster? Has a way been figured out or updated into the game yet to use more of our ram?

These 2 mods Improved fps and stutters quite a bit for me, they are worth a shot!

I am having a similar problem where every 10 to 30 seconds my screen just freezes for a second. i have a relatively new computer (<6 months). its 1200 dollars and i bought it because it has good specs for games. It has 6 gigs of ram and the new i7 processor... which means i have 8 strands with roughly 1.7 gHz each (p.s. this is the newest processor on the market currently). i also have a graphics card with its own memmory and my computer plays wow without a problem. someone must have SOME kinds of clue as to whats going on.

Also, does anyone know if minecraft is 32-bit or 64-bit? because that could really effect this
