Notch never checks his emails, you can even take your money back from PayPal and he doesn't notice. Notch has said that their customer support isn't any best (minimal).
It's been 6 months now.. That is quite evident at this point.
Still, one can patiently keep notice of it at least.
i think this is a big problem too to people that dont know that they either cant change there username or that it should be listed that u cant when u create an account. i dont really mind my forum name be my acctual one thou
I'm gonna bump this even though it's old... because I also have the same problem. Not that anyone has a solution, but I hope Notch realizes one day that this is an issue.
If Notch cannot implement a feature with changing usernames, the least he can do is apply a feature that can make us change our multiplayer names or something.
Yes, I would very much like to see customers have the ability to change their name. Most interested in changing the in-game name, not the account name. I also used my real name for my account, and do not want it on public servers.
So I'm in the same predicament as most who have posted on this thread. It's been nearly a week and I have not yet received a reply from our dear friends at Mojong. This does not bode well.
Reading this thread and taking the advice posted, I emailed the Mojong guys and requested a refund and mentioned that I would re purchase a new account with a different user name. I used my first and last name when creating my account as I have done with every online game I've played, and NEVER have I had it carry over to my character's name. So hence now I'm screwed and because I don't want to join servers with my real name flashing above my head I'm the one losing out here. NO REPLY FROM MOJONG! VERY BAD START GUYS, your tardy reply has now forced me to consdider other alternatives. So is it that now you've got my money you're too good to take the time to reply? That's pretty sad.
I bought the game, now I'd like the option to change my username if I choose. I imagine the account credentials are sitting in a db somewhere. I wonder what the problem is with changing them?

I'll voice my opinion on this too. Should defiantly have a display name that's separate from your username. Like how it's done on Steam! That would be the perfect solution!

I read through these posts for a good laugh. While some of you wait for a particular update you could let others know that in no way did you register your real-name (Jeff) as your login name "jeff". How will others in the world know you're telling the truth?
Looks like only one person used IRC and got a response from Notch.
I do agree that website should be more clear on letting people know their registration name would be = ingame name. That would certainly stem some of the frustration and takes about 10 seconds.

That's a ridiculous point because the first thing people would do to try and seek out information about you would be from you display name. Even if you tell them it isn't your name, they're obviously going to look it up anyway which is the whole point that you seem to be missing.

Yes.
It has been almost 7 months now and not a thing has really been done except for that measly irc message.
I REALLY need to change mine... my game was bought for me as a surprise gift from my fiancee, and she put my first name and a bunch of random numbers... ><
It would be very helpful and convenient if or any other developer at Mojang could fix this. Just having a simple username changer would be great, as I can understand not being able to change the account name for financial purposes. It couldn't be that hard to make... they have the world naming system now, could something as simple and as awesome as that be made for mutliplayer usernames? I apologize to or any other developer at Mojang if they are reading this and they're thinking me ignorant if this is actually something very hard to create.
I bump this. So hard.
